Dormatic seats? Ebay

I'm not sure how useful these would be to our vehicles with 3 seats and a bench

At £450 they're not cheap either.

Do all the different Dormobile variants have identical seats, or are there different VW/Land Rover/Bedford variants?

They are all different, although I guess based on the same principles.... No doubt someone with a bit of ability could make them fit but I doubt it would be an ideal solution.

Ah right, thanks. I would have been surprised if they were all the same, but I thought it was worth checking, as that eBay listing gives the impression that it would fit any of them.

Looking at the price of those, i'm very thankful I have all my seats and interior fittings...

Hi all

The mechanisms are similar on Bedfords and Land Rovers. The seats on ebay look like they all have the rear seat type mechanism, so only good for the rear of a vehicle. The front seat mechanisms are more complicated as the drives seat moves forward and backwards and the front passenger seat flips backwards as well as folding flat.

Last time I saw a set of complete seats on ebay, they sold for £600.

Ah, that reminds me of another question I was going to ask; how to you life the drivers seat?

All the mechanisms on mine are a little stiff, so I didn't want to force anything, but I couldn't see an obvious way of lifting it. There is a rod across the back of it I worked out you pull sideways to fold it flat, but I couldn't immediately work out how to get at the gas underneath.

Any ideas?

Yes, you need to slide it right out, it doesn't lift..... I keep the runners well greased to make it a bit easier. It's the one thing that they fell short on as it is a bit of a pain. When camping it is possible to slide it forward and get access to the hatch. However this is only useful for turning the regulator on or off, if you want to change a bottle, out comes the seat...

On my 1970 the seat comes out on two screw knobs like on the passenger seat and I suppose you could say it is a pain, but as I have only used 3 bottles of gas in 5 years, not really. I have had to remove the seat more times to change gearboxes and then it is even easier then a normal LR seat.

As for sliding the seat forward to turn the gas on and off, yes we do that and have to remember to do it straight away as we have a side awning and as soon as it is up, we cannot open the doors to get to the value. Gas! Gas! Gas! Louise has to remind me, when we park up.
