More important things happening for us today Phillip - we're down in Winchester for a couple of days for Hazel's graduation

Not even had time to check my ebay saved searches

Thanks Phillip - Yes, a lovely day - warm, sunny and dry down here so perfect for pictures, and the ceremony was in Winchester Cathedral, so quite spectacular.
Hazel was fed up with us dragging her around the 'old town' in her graduation finery, but we managed to snap lots as well as her official ones!
Then again, we'll be doing it all again next year as she's doing another year to convert from a dual-honours degree (Education & Psychology) into a Psychology degree, so that's another graduation :stars:

Anyway, a very nice meal at a posh restaurant late last night means I can't sleep now, so catching up with forum/emails

Is it this one Phillip?
HERE

LHD defender with S2 body?

Very confusing - title says 1968 green/black, but the description & pictures are for a 1991 'sand' or beige Defender with a S2 ambi body! At least it's not masquerading as a tax exempt vehicle

Or there's this V8 one HERE

Cheers,
Robin.

Great looking vehicle, naturally 'desert sand is my favourite colour! Maybe the log book describes the vehicle's original colour scheme - black and green camo? However the vehicle IS described in the ebay blurb as 'tax exempt' in bold compared with this one that I looked at earlier which was a 110 with a Series 2 body, not masquerading as a tax exempt vehicle:- http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Land-Rover-Se ... 5661778%26 At £1750 it seemed a good deal to me at the time.

Did I read somewhere that vehicles, rebuilt, converted or restored before a certain date could not be disqualified from tax free status on the 'points' system which came in later?

I fear that the seller, who seems to be acting on behalf of a deceased friend, may have opened a can of worms here.

cheers

I've met the chap who is selling this, His mate died quite a few years ago.
He won a pair of series 2a wings and front panel from me last year, he did seem a very honest chap and he came in the Land rover which was green with a 110 front end.
It did sounded well,

So it is - don't know how I missed that though it was 3am when I looked at it :embarassed:

The seller has now added:
PLEASE NOTE TO SAVE ANSWERING THE SAME QUESTIONS THE VEHICLE WAS MANUFACTURED IN 1966 AND RELEASED FROM THE ARMY AND REGISTERED FOR CIVILIAN USE IN 1991, IT IS DESCRIBED AS AN AMBULANCE HISTORIC VEHICLE ON DVLA PAPERWORK."

However, that doesn't take into consideration the fact that it is, in reality, a non tax-exempt Defender with a S2 body plonked on it!

The body might be 1966, but bodywork doesn't count if you're totting up points for tax exemption.
I would say the points you could tot up on this would be approx............ zero!!

As John says - can of worms!

Cheers,
Robin.

PS. Not trying to police anything here - just a warning for anyone who might be thinking about buying it as there may be issues in the future :tiphat:
