New Land Rover magazine about to be launched!

Post by TomMc » Sat Mar 09, 2013 1:32 am

Have you heard about the new monthly magazine about to hit the newsagents on 1st May 2013?

Entitled Classic Land Rover, it will concentrate on "early Series vehicles and other authentic Land Rovers". Not my words, but those lifted from the advertising blub.

I have high hopes for this publication as it's edited by none other than John Carroll, a true LR enthusiast himself and Editor of umpteen national magazines and club publications over the past three decades. Looking forward to it, I'm confident it'll be one for 'us'.

I've got that one in my sights, Tom.

John is a member on here, though not very active - I suppose he's too busy writing and editing

He joined us at Leafers at t'Pit last year in his Aberscoch Express (Searle 88" Carawagon) which meant we had no less than 7 Carawagons there :gold:
We're hoping he might join us at one of the shows in his 109" Carawagon (are you listening, John :tiphat: )

Looking forward to the new mag - as has been said on other forums, the other big LR magazines are full of new £50k Land Rovers with very little useful content for those of us running 'proper' Land Rovers :stars:

Cheers,
Robin.

Didn't know that, just as well I didn't slag him off then?

Nah, known John for more years than I care to remember, good lad.

Very much looking forward to seeing this magazine on sale, I love old Land Rovers, otherwise I would not be on here! But in current magazines it's all either very expensive builds on new land rovers with hand stitched leather interiors or winch challenge trucks etc... Some seem to spread out articles for months just to swap a seat cover! or feature how to shoehorn a TDV8 into a range rover classic in two pages!

It would be great to see a magazine for people who are interested in the older Landies with articles about standard and modified classics, with features on things people actually can do on the drive at home with out needing to remortgage the house.

The magazines on sale now can be interesting, and buy some, LRM has had some a good Classic vehicles like the guy with the 88” Series 2 he uses as a working vehicle at historic car races. But there are still articles more like lists of equipment than stories about the builds and how people use their Land Rovers.

I can’t wait to see it on sale and with Mr JC behind it we can be assured of great content.

I am also looking forward to seeing the new magazine. Does anybody know if it will be possible to subscribe, much easier to receive it in the mailbox, than to look for it in the magazine stands here in Norway.

It will be much easier to focus on the old classics, when you don’t have to go through all the new fancy cars and equipment that is available.

But I agree with scruffylandie, LRM has a good classic content in their magazine.
Kind regards

From the horses mouth .
"Classic Land Rover is sold through all WH Smiths high street and travel stores as well as through the major supermarkets and petrol station outlets. Independent outlets in more rural areas are also included within the distribution .
Copies will also be available in leading newsagents in Australia , New Zealand , US, Neatherlands, Portugal and Norway as well as other smaller markets around the world.
Classic Land Rover will also benefit from direct sales through Key publishing's mail order operation and from bonus distribution at various major events throughout . 2013

The subscription link on their site is still coming up with script error :thud:

Hopefully they'll sort it - I'd rather get a guaranteed copy through the post than trail around a wet high street looking for it
