It's what we took to Morocco for us guys in the desert - but the ladies still prefer the porta-pottys without the 'big sky' view I think

Then again, I suppose this does what it says on the tin (or box!)

The problem with that one, Dan, as John alluded to, is that you can't use it without a bag, eg. in the desert or bush where you can dig a hole and fill it in afterwards

Hells bells man, I am touring Europe not Mongolia!! I don't know, it all seems, well, a little grim ;) I am with Jerry, the thought of a porta-potti sitting in that small space isn't particularly appealing, so maybe it will be an on the roof job! I like the thunderbox but worry about selling it as a concept to my better half, perfect for me! I have a horrible vision of John and Mick sharing a communal dump however

In practice when touring Europe you're never far from a decent bog - on campsites or Motorway Service Areas and McDonalds' toilets are always well looked after. Africa on the other hand is one giant public toilet and I have only used my 'folder' once' in extremis' but you can't beat your very own bog and a special place to go. On one memorable occasion I was taken short whilst hiking the Grand Canyon - now what a magnificent view that was!

Good luck with the decision. We have used our system for 3 years now and have had no leaks so far. If it can stand the corrugations, it cannot be that bad.

Remember, that a bog is no good without somewhere to put it. William is quite happy to use it in the back of the vehicle during the day, but Ladies require a bit more privacy. We have a very nice awning for when we are parked up at night, but for during the day, we also had a Khyam toilet tent. On the Morocco trip we were away from home for 27 nights, so needed to be prepared

Mick, thanks for the offer, might well take you up on it! Can I ask mate, did you get your awning made especially, as I would like similar? The Dormi is having some work done on it for the first part of March, new 9:1 cylinder head, overdrive, springs and alternator conversion. I am farming it out, bad I know but with everything going on I am short of time and need to be ready for Spring, I was going to keep her original, but I took heed of your comments about usability (the parts that come off will be stored to keep her complete). When I get her back it will be seat upholstered, both swivels done, second battery, heater etc... (I will do these myself).
Current thinking is, store the portaloo on the roof rack and use it in some kind of awning, so what you say is definitely interesting. I am hoping to organise and S2C camping weekend in June on the Border with Durham, I will make it open to LRCC as well, but would be good to see you guys?
