Any chance you or Michiel could post a photo of the hinge fittings for the drivers seat ? I already feel another project coming on !

Here are some pics I took today to show how it hinges at the back of the frame.
It is really simple actually. The ends of the sliders slide under a couple of tabs at the back of the seatbox. That is what holds the seat down together with the thumb screws at the front of the seatbox.

By undoing the thumbscrews you simply lift the front up and ease the whole seat forwards untill it is free from those tabs. If you just need to lift it up you can just do that and leave the ends under the tabs. But there is nothing to hold the seat in that position, you have t o hold it or get somebody to hold it for you.
Hope this makes sense...

Thanks Michiel, very helpful. Certainly gives food for thought. Was almost at the point of cutting a hole in the seatbox like Colin's.

Interesting. It seems that the driver's seat came in two different versions - hinged or fixed with slides. Mine has the slides and the slides themselves are on 1/2" wooden blocks so that may be a SPOT for a height-challenged driver or was maybe original. It took some adjusting to make the driver's seat easily slide-able to enable access to the gas tanks.

Just noticed that there is something missing from my seats.

The grab handle from the passenger seat.

What went on the side of the passenger seat ? There are a couple of holes and a mark on the frame where something has been removed.

Removed the wheels & adjusted the brakes at the weekend. Flexible pipes are cracked and the rigid pipes rusty but no leaks from the wheel cylinders.
Went down to take the pictures above just now and the master cylinder seal has failed and the footwell is covered in brake fluid. Looks like I'll be removing the pedal boxes & overhauling sooner rather than later.....

I also added 1/2" wooden runners under my driver seat. This was to get the drivers seat up level with the rear seats when laid flat as a bed (this is mentioned by several in another thread somerwhere). Also gives the advantage that I can now slide the seats further back for driving, which suits my longer legs.

I have to admit I lost mine too. Took them off to fit seat covers (due to split seats). Put them in the back of the garage, but three house moves later

Hi Gromit
Just noticed that there is something missing from my seats.

Not all Dormobiles had them fitted, mine didn't, but looks like yours has been removed.

My 1962 Dormie doesn't have them, or the holes to fit them. You don't really need them in practice.

Hi Colin,

The 2 holes should have a pin fitted. I believe to prev nt the seat from going too far in a certain direction when flipping over. Can't check as my seat isn't fitted at the moment. But somebody, please correct me if I'm wrong about this.

Here is a picture...

Thanks Michiel,
Looks easy enough to make a replacement (now I know what it looks like).
