CASPA - sixpot info
Anyone know where all the info on this site went? (Carawagon and Sixpot Association).I know someone took over the domain but there was some great info on engines and tuning that I hope is still around somewhere.

Re: CASPA - sixpot info
It all disappeared, I'm afraid
When the site went down last year due to the domain not being renewed, I tried contacting Roger, the guy who used to manage CASPA to ask if he had a backup of the forum and if he would mind me hosting it as an archive on here, but unfortunately I got no response to emails or phone messages.
He also dropped out of the S2C forum where he was known as TehPriest - memorable as he is/was a priest and the mis-spelling of 'The'
I tried contacting him again earlier this year, but still got no response so can only assume either he no longer has any interest or he's no longer with us
As you say, it was a good site for 6 pot and Carawagon info, but it looks like it's gone for good now
Cheers,
Robin.

Re: CASPA - sixpot info
A lot of the site has been archived by the Internet Archive's "Wayback Machine"
https://web.archive.org/web/20120824223 ... xpotforum/
It won't look the same though, and I've had a quick look through and it seems that a lot of the forum content wasn't archived.
Still, you may be able to retrieve something of value from what's there?
Good luck,
Patrick

Re: CASPA - sixpot info
I remember that I did look to taking a snapshot of the archive at the time, but the problem is most of the useful stuff was in the forum section and as you say, that doesn't seem to be archived

Re: CASPA - sixpot info
Oh that's sad isn't it - there were some great tips on valve settings, carb settings and timing - to hear a sixpot running perfectly like that was a joy.
I seem to remember a Swiss guy who was expert at it all and had posted detailed tuning instructions and maybe even a video.

Re: CASPA - sixpot info
They're not as temperamental as people make out... the book figures for tappet clearances etc will have your 6 purring, providing the rest of the valve gear is in good condition. I time my engines by ear - I use a book setting to get it running and get it fine tuned on the road. I find this the best way.
What figures do you need to know?

Hi Gary
I think the Swiss guy is Jeramy, who is actually an American living in Swizerland. He can be contacted throught the Dormobile forum or the Series 2 Club Forum under 'jkhackney'.
I always just used the book figures on my 6 pot and it ran great. the best thing I ever did was recon the Dizzy, add electrinic trigger in the Dizzy and reconditioned the Carb. Ran like sewing machine. shame it burnt oil by the gallon!!

Re: CASPA - sixpot info
Thanks Mick and Calum - I wasn't really after any figures - I just remember there were a few tips like "run it to 850rpm and ease back the mixture til it sounds like your mother singing you to sleep" or something like that - it then went on to say that this setting never burnt the exhaust valves out and the fuel consumption dropped to whatever - just trial and error experiences which are the ones I like most.
