Hello everybody. Let us introduce...

https://picasaweb.google.com/1122205118 ... directlink

This is Dormobile SIIa ”Fardory” from 1962. Now in the hands of serious Land Rover enthusiasts. We have an original Land Rover SIII Ambulance (1979) Ex Dutch army (The Iron Nurse) and a Land Rover SIII, 88 (Gonzo the 3rd). We are planning to cross over the channel next summer with ”Fardory” to the UK. But first a major exterior/interior restoration and paint job in his original colors!

Please note! I'll need your help by finding some parts! Especially the original front seats. The original front seats are completely gone. So who of you know something. Please let me know  From 8th till 17th August we are in the UK (Kent). We will take a short visit at Dormobile for buying some ”little” stuff.

If you know anything, let me know.

Regards from Holland,

Gilbert IJsselmuiden

Hi Gilbert,

Welcome to the forum and Dormobile ownership.

Sorry can't help with locating front seats as I think you will find these are 'Very Rare" . A good idea would be to ask in the "Wanted" section. You are probably already aware that Dormobile Ltd in Folkstone use a different design which does not give the double bed option only two singles. Hope something turns up. You can always use the bunk beds meantime.

As a L/R owner you will know how easily they can be taken apart for repair or updated with newer parts. I am a little curious that your vehicle is a '62' but has headlights in the wings. Also, what wiper motors are fitted ? Not suggesting anything is wrong just asking if you know why and when. There are plenty early S2s with later wings/bulkheads or even S3 front ends fitted.

There is a member here, Phil (but I forget his forum name :stars: ) who is compiling a register of Dormobiles and will be grateful for details of yours including the serial number from the Dormobile plate. Someone will point you in his direction.

The S2 Club annual rally happens the same weekend you arrive in UK. Unfortunately it's in Warwickshire not in Kent. There will probably be 3 or 4 from this forum there with vehicles, but it is about 175 miles (280km) from Folkestone.

Hope you get your first weekend out in the Dormobile soon.

Hi Gilbert,

Welcome, and thanks for sharing your Land Rover details.

As Ian says, Phil (Bea on here) has extensive details of Dormobile records and I am sure would like to know your details, chassis number and Dormobile serial number etc. if you don't mind passing them on in a private PM?

Cheers,
Robin.

Thanks guys...

I will make soon a ”Dormobile Passport of Fardory” and send it in a PM to Phil.

About the headlights in the wings... Ian, it was a dutch modification to indicate the width of the vehicle and for better light on the roads. So the headlights of a SIII ’were stuck on’. It was also a MOT rule in the past. But I will restore the old lights back.

The wipers... each equipped with wiper motor and manual operation mode of position of the wiper.

I 'll put some new pics in the ”fanpage” of Fardory... follow the link.

Gilbert

ps. Next time you see me and Fardory in the ”Wanted section"

Gilbert, i have a second drivers seat but there is an issue... I have the vehicles original in storage as i didn't get it until 6 months after I got the vehicle and by then I had managed to source a replacement for the missing seat. I had already recovered the seats and now Exmoor have switched vinyl meaning I cant re-use my original seat unless I recover them all... I dint have a spare passenger though and technically that is equally if not more important. If you can find a passenger we can talk drivers seats.... Mine is Jan 62' if you want any info PM me and we will talk.

Very nice! That looks like a very vivid blue as well, going by the picture, thought it might just be the contrast.

Best of luck,

Ant
