Hi Jerry, is that to the rear gutter, above the door, or the side gutter?

Cheers,

Interesting, all these different heights.

Patrick's is on heavy duty parabolics and sits at 209cm, though I've just realised the front wheels are up on ramps (helps water drain off the roof!) so I really need to drop it off and measure again :embarassed:

I think once we determine if Jerry is measuring to the side gutter or the door gutter, at least we'll have a definitive roof height measurement - then the rest is down to springs.

Looks like the original questioner needs to look for a camper on tired springs

Cheers,
Robin.

Hi Robin,
That measurement is to the side gutter :tiphat:

Top of opening roof vent to top of side gutter = 365mm ( taken using a level across from top of vent, vehicle standing on level floor )

Amazing all these different heights :stars:

I'm just making up a frame to support an awning as I'm going beach camping next week :nana1: Let me know if you need any more measurements.

Right, I think we have some definitive measurements now:

Dormobile, from top of side gutter to highest point on roof (vent) = 365mm
Carawagon, from top of side gutter to highest point on roof (ridge) = 330mm

So, if all else were equal (springs, loading etc.) the Dormobile would sit 35mm higher.

That's not a lot, and as we've found, springs can make more difference than that, so it's all academic, really, for the original questioner :embarassed:

The only other point to make is that if things were really tight, the Carawagon roof would probably stand a little scrape along the top ridge, but on the Dormobile, I would imagine as Jerry says, the vent catching would/could cause more damage

Thanks all; I'll get back to the original questioner - at least we have some rough figures, ranging from 206cm to 230cm :stars:

Cheers,
Robin.

That's also assuming the drive etc are flat. Any angle on the drive is going to alter the effective height too.....
