You can get a new Lucas look-a-like dynamo for under 50 quid but the leads come out of the side. Aaron Auto Electrics just reconditioned my original Lucas for £55 plus the dreaded vat in less than a week. New bearing, armature and brushes plus the body was cleaned and pained a nice matt grey. I had a dynamo rebuilt by Lenton & Smithson in Harrogate. I dropped it off and collected within a week, looking splendid, rebuilt with repainted cover, beadblasted ally parts, new bearing and brushes etc, for around £50, I forget exactly how much. If provenance is important then they are worth a shot. Unless you state you want the same one back, they may exchange off the shelf but I'm not sure they keep that much in. Likewise starter motors and alternators etc.
