re-classification of v5

Post by AlexB » Fri Mar 08, 2013 12:05 pm

Anyone any idea of how much trauma and scrutiny is involved in changing the v5 classification on a v5?

I would like to change my project (blue dormobile) to motor caravan as per my green dormobile

It does look like you can change it on the V5, section 7, but perhaps it might be worth a phone call to DVLA? They should be able to tell you if it's just a matter of changing it and sending it to them, or if they need any other proof

Out of our four Carawagons here, only one is listed as Motor Caravan - the others are all Light 4x4 Utility :stars:

I wonder if it's a case of whether it was converted before registration or after

Cheers,
Robin.

Does it have an effect on AA type recovery services, or is that only affected by the weight?

hi

my log book records D.1 landrover D.5 light 4x4 utility D.4 2 axle-rigid body

no mention of carawagon.the only reason i can think is some of the landrover
supplying dealers registered the vehicles as light 4x4 utility before sending them
to carawagon and carawagon registered them as carawagon.

My 1972 Carawagon (project):
D1 Make LAND ROVER
D2 Type (blank)
D3 Model (blank)
(no D4 at all)
D5 Body Type MOTOR CARAVAN

My 1966 Carawagon (currently on the road):
D1 Make LAND ROVER
D2 Type (blank)
D3 Model (blank)
(no D4 at all)
D5 Body Type LIGHT 4X4 UTILITY

My future 1958 Carawagon is, of course just a LWB as I'm swapping the pickup
for the Carawagon body I bought from Truro.
However, the details are:
D1 Make ROVER
D2 Type (blank)
D3 Model (blank)
(no D4 at all)
D5 Body Type LIGHT 4X4 UTILITY

I'll probably send the V5 back for both of the ones listed as Light 4x4 Utility to get them changed to Motor Caravan at some time
