Looks like she might have 6-pot brakes too. Is that a normal Carawagon upgrade? It's a 4-pot bulkhead.

It's a Land Rover, everything was an option from the factory. What makes you think they are 3" brakes?

Part number on the drum, and it ties up with the picture in the book - definitely look different to the other 11" drums I have kicking about.

How do I get the metal trim out? Need to access the roof bolts etc so planning on removing all of the metal to make it easier. Not sure whether it'll all go back in!
Had to take the sun visor out as I can't see through the windscreen with it in!

Hi Rob,
The top trim, above the window, is held by the rivets along the top of the window.
The aluminium trim is bent into a return, then drilled through and rivetted in with the window.
The end rivets don't need to come out, just the middle six on each window.
There's nothing holding the top of the trim, but don't just bend it down to get to the bolts, like a PO did with one of mine as you'll never get it straight again
When I refitted mine, I shaped a piece of hardwood into the return (it will be obvious when the trim is off) and used brass screws through the bottom of the window rather than rivets, so I can easily remove it again if needed.
I haven't removed the bottom aluminium trim on the same style of Carawagon as yours, but I suspect it's held in the same way, rivets along the bottom of the window frame.
The bottom of that trim is fixed with rivets straight through the tub skin - you should be able to see those on the outside.

Thanks, I'll have a look at drilling them out. Unfortunately a PO has already bent some of the trim.... Does the glass need to come out first? I'm tempted to insulate & carpet the interior rather than refit the metal trim, will see how it looks once it's out & what SWMBO wants.

No need to take the glass out - if you leave the end rivets in it will be fine.
I suppose it might be worth removing them completely to clean them up and re-seal them back if they are that bad, but I cleaned mine up with a toothbrush and water
Once you've got the trim off you can try to straighten it, bit you'll probably never get it back as good as it was
I suppose leaving the bottom section of trim off would give a couple more inches of room as well, but the trim does hide the joints between tub and sides, and sides and roof, so might look a bit more utilitarian

Interesting. Needed to take the end rivets out, but not the middle one. PO attempts meant I could look inside to spot this once we'd started. Roof now ready to be changed.

Ah, another difference between the two-bench and the one-bench layout then
On the one-bench layout (like my on-the-road cream one and Steve's) the end rivets just hold the window frame.
Good to know how the other type is fixed - that's the same as one of my projects which I haven't started yet

Well, all we've really proved is one of yours fits one way, and mine the other..... Given it's a Land Rover I'd not be putting money on yours being the same!
