Hi,
since summer 2012 I own a series 3 (1978) 109 SW, 2,3l Diesel with a roof tent. I was searching for a dormobile but haven`t found one I could afford or reach (it was too far away from Germany). So I took the best 109 series 3 I could find. Not a dormobile but at least with a roof tent and in excellent condition concerning body /chassis /motor. It was converted from a 2.6l petrol motor to a 2.3l Diesel (5 bearings) in 1989 from the second owner with now 24.000km (I don`t know how much it is in miles). The original chassis is in perfect condition without any rust (thanks to the former = second owner from whom I bought the car).

So I hope I can be part of you although I only have a normal series 3 with a roof tent (but the kids like it !)

Of course, you have a classic Land rover and you use it as a camper so you are already part of our forum

Have you done anything inside the Station Wagon? How do you cook etc. or do you do it all outside?

Another of our members (Dudley) has a similar set up, but the back of his Station Wagon is fitted out for camping with cooker etc.

I`m planning to convert the inside for camping, but the car is up to now in original condition. The former owner from austria used it years ago for trips outside europe (see pics attached) and inside was a construction for carrying things as water and other stuff but no camping conversion as in a dormobile e.g.
I`m still planning how to convert the inside and when the weather will be better I hope things will start. Any ideas for converting for camping with children are welcome.
Maybe I can ask dudley what he fitted inside his Landrover for camping.

Hi Stefan,

I wasn't suggesting going the whole way and converting the interior - as I remember, Philip's (Dudley) just has boxes/cabinets built in to the back with an area for putting a Camping Gaz stove for cooking.
He stands under the tent platform to cook etc. and he has an 'awning' which zips around the bottom of the tent platform if the weather is bad.

The drifta stuff looks nice, but I don't think you need to go to those lengths, or expense

'Gruezli' Stefan! Most Australian suppliers have copied their products from other sources, There are lots of good suppliers in Europe. Just ask here for advice!
