My new newest Carawagon :)

Well, my latest project arrived this morning :nana1:

Here it is in all its glory

As the seller said, it's loosely bolted together, bits like the handbrake, rear fuel tank, seats etc. are just piled in the back and the engine (Defender 2.5TD) is in the engine bay, resting on a piece of 4"x2" timber :stars:

It is definately a Series 3 bulkhead, and the front end is in a different colour to the tub, so it looks like it's another 'bitsa' :thud:
I would have preferred it to have been an S2A, but still, it's a Carawagon :neener:

This was an (off) ebay purchase, the seller accepted an offer a bit lower than his asking price so I'm happy. After all, the galvanised chassis represents more than two thirds of the price I paid for the whole thing :gold:

Anyway, first job will be to empty the back to see what sort of cupboards & beds they are - the bed(s) don't look the same as normal 2 door ones, but they are original and until I get time to get everything out, we won't know what the actual layout is.
Oh, and it's got the original gas fridge

I think there's still room on the lawn for another couple

More to follow :tiphat:

Cheers,
Robin.

hi Robin

Glad it has arrived safely. Something else to keep you out of trouble.

I'm interested in the layout as it might give me ideas for the restoration of my Carawagon.

All the best

Mick

Well done robin. i feel like it is another one safe  . :tiphat: Ps if the block is red it is no prob, i had a 90 with the 12j with the red block and it was a great motor.

Looks good Robin, Chris Scott swears by (or was it 'at') the TD motor which he put in 'Oddjob'

I think, looking at the seats I can see mixed in with everything else in the back, that it's actually two singles in this one!

Hopefully I'll be able to pull everything out of the back tomorrow and get the seats in where they should be, but I think it will be like the one in this picture, though mine has the cupboards and fridge as well.

Oh, and SWMBO has only just noticed that something is different on the lawn, and the new one has been there since yesterday lunchtime :stars:

Actually though, she was out yesterday and didn't get home until dark

No, that picture is from one from my stock of photos, grabbed from ebay etc. when they've been up for sale.

I just used it to show what I think is the setup in mine.

Mine is definitely S3, soft dash :embarassed:

I'm hoping to empty the back over the weekend and I'll take piccies then.

Cheers,
Robin.

The interior pic is actually of mine....! Except it's currently got the cushions up as battery is in the back & needed access. And has a load of bits scattered about.

Ah, I thought it was from a recent sale :tiphat:

Looks like mine will be similar, though I've also got the cupboards and fridge.

Of course, that means when you get over to have a look for ideas, you should be able to just measure up my cupboard etc.

Cheers,
Robin.
