None for a while, then 3 come along! (Lomas Ambi)

I know one of these has been flagged up already, but it seems that there's now 3 of these ambulances on ebay!

Second one HERE

Third one HERE

So, depending on how much of a project, or how much you want to spend, you have a choice of three to convert into a camper

The bodies on the Lomas ambulances are fibreglass, and two of these examples have modified bulkheads so you might have to make sure they are in good condition as I'm not sure where the standard bulkhead finishes and the fibreglass starts!

Cheers,
Robin.

Bulkhead on the blue one is knackered - the other pictures show this. Also I think the fibreglass edges can be seen in the image, so replacing it would be pretty much impossible I think. It's also a bit wider than a standard bulkhead, so what's metal & what's "extra" is anybodies guess. Shame, otherwise it'd look really good!

The 109" looks tempting, I'd asked when the MOT ran out & how long the load bay was, but no response. At £2k now & not reached reserve. How long is the back of a 109"?

Hi Rob,

I don't have a 'standard' 109" to measure now Steptoe has gone, but a Carawagon with modified bulkhead is 79" from bulkhead to back door.

Cheers,
Robin.

Thanks, so about 5" spare! Think I'll wait for the carawagon pics as will get height & fractionally more length (no bulkhead) in that.

Shame the Lomas would be too difficult/expensive to repair.

Talking to Daslandroverman, apparently there's not a lot of legroom in the front of the Lomas either. Robin would be fine, Patrick will struggle, and I've got no hope!

I wonder if they remove the bulkhead and mount the Lomas body further forward - I can't see any other reason for less legroom than a 'standard' 109"

At last, a reason to be glad I'm only 5' 7 and a half (notice how "vertically challenged" folk always measure the 1/2" )

Ok, Les has kindly emailed me some pictures he already had to show the size etc.

Now Les is no taller than me, so the one where he is sat on the bed shows the height (or lack of) of the roof

So, the last picture shows why there's less room in the front - a very upright position as the bulkhead has been replaced by the Lomas body :stars:

I do like the flat floor in the back, looks very handy for either fitting cupboards or just as a load area.

Bulkheads look very simple to me. There is an obvious seam where the body is sealed against the original bulkhead. I would like to bet it will just be standard underneath.
