WANTED - DORMATIC DRIVERS SEAT

Post by DanC » Fri Sep 28, 2012 11:14 am

As it says on the tin! I need a drivers dormatic seat to complete 'The Wagon', not bothered if it is S2 or S3 as I am going to recover them all anyway... Anybody?

Might be worth putting an ad on the Dormobile forum too

With luck I have now secured a drivers dormatic and an original wardrobe which I should be able to get in December....

I am however after a set of 7.50 AT tyres (or road biased with a decent amount of off-road grip) and some sort of heater! Would prefer a promax or petrol night heater as mine doesn't and will not be running off heavy oil (I have enough of those)... I might be persuaded to do a deal with an RV1 Oztent, with zip up sides and groundsheet if someone has what I need.....

Thursday is MOT day, I have never been so nervous in my life for some bizarre reason! Probably the 35 mile drive to the MOT station in a vehicle that hasn't done more than a quarter of a mile in several years!! The Wagon has new fluids, the brakes have been checked and cleaned and everything else checked, so here is hoping!

Well done re. the seat etc.

Does that mean there's one been scrapped somewhere then :thud:

I think you mean Propex for the heater (runs on propane or butane, whatever you'll be using for cooking).

Another possibility is an underfloor heater like used in trailer tents and folding campers. I've just bought one I might use in my 'new' Carawagon or in my Dandy folding camper :neener:
They are virtually silent and don't use any power, just burn propane or butane but are flued to the outside so very safe. The only problem is you are left with a grill in the floor so not good for bare feet (unless you are into S&M  ).
Something like THIS ONE on ebay - completed listing and I can't find any listed at the moment. This ebay one was brand new, but I've seen used ones go for £50-£80 so probably a better bet than an Eberspacher and less to go wrong :stars:

Whenever I look for another Eberspacher or similar, there seem to be a few petrol ones around as well - I think they were common on older VW campers.

Good luck with the MOT - I'm sure you'll enjoy the run, especially the run back with a fresh MOT.
Will it be going back into storage at the farm, or back to your place to be used?

Cheers,
Robin.

The Insa Turbo remoulds are pretty good (I use the M&S ones), not sure about a 750 though; only one I found was only 20% road. Quite a few on Craddocks website, but nothing second hand. Nothing obvious at Withams either.

Good luck with the MOT. Got mine back with an advisory (well several) that the floor plates were loose, given they're not bolted down it's not surprising! Apparently the fan spinning was an indicator that she was up to temperature too....

Dan, have you tried www.vass.co.uk for the tyres?

I can't see any on their site at the moment but it might be worth a call.

Cheers,
Robin.

Thanks All, will look at those heaters Robin, only problem is a reluctance to cut anything into the floor as I am feeling the weight of originality on the Wagon! If we pass the MOT (and I truly hope it does), then it will be coming home with me to be used, intend to start sorting out the interior etc. over winter and if I can heat it maybe a couple of cheeky winter camps! The dormatic seat and wardbrobe are not from a recently scrapped vehicle, they are from an enthusiast who just happens to have spares!

I will assess the tyre situation when I get it home, according to the MOT man (and yes I took a photo in to show him to be sure) they are legal as they have 1mm over 75%, but I would like some fresh rubber to help it roll along!

I have the seat (in fact I now have 2 as the PO has just found the original), I have it covered and I went to fit it and BANG... The replacement seat is on different runners and they don't work with the Dormatic Seat. A. Does anyone have some Dormatic drivers seat runners? B. Does anyone know if they were used for anything else? Failing that can someone take a photo for me pleeeeeease.....

Thanks, Dormi know back at home
