Links to webpages

Hi Robin,

I am a member of a couple of other forums. On those when I click on a website link within a post, it opens a new IE window. I have therefore got used to closing the new window to find myself back on the respective forum.

However, clicking a link on here takes me to the webpage but within the original IE window. Guess who can't help themselves from closing the window when finished :thud:

Any setting you can change to make links open a new window (I am a very slow learner) ?

Thanks
Ian

Well after fixing some bugs I found along the way, I came to actually putting the code in to do this and found it already works...

Could you confirm it in your browser please?

Test external link: http://www.google.co.uk
Test internal link: index.php

For me, the external link, Google, opens up in a new tab. And the internal link, index.php opens in the same tab, as it should do.

Thanks,
Patrick

Nope - Google Chrome v.19 (latest) still opens both those links in the same Window, and so does IE9

Must just be a Firefox thing...Oh well, I've put in the javascript, so it should now work for all browsers that support it - pretty much all of them.

Happy clicking!

Patrick

I am using IE8 and it has now opened the external link ^^^^ in a new window, not a tab (but that is what I am used to).
The internal link ^^^^ opened in the same tab, so I will have to get used to the back-button !

Thanks
