LATP - 9/10 June

Post by RMS » Mon May 14, 2012 4:32 pm

Hi guys,

Some of you already know about this event, but for those of you who don't, there's a show at the Mining Museum, near Wakefield, for Leaf-Sprung Land Rovers only!

LATP link

Unfortunately, if you haven't already got a camping pass (they were sold out within a couple of days!), there's no more room on the site for more campers, but you can still come for a day, or the weekend if you camp at a nearby campsite.

Cheers,
Robin.

SEVEN - YES, NO LESS THAN 7 CARAWAGONS at t'Pit this weekend :nana1:

Steve, Patrick & I were joined by Les & Yvonne in their S3, Wayne in his ex-mil command post and Trevor in his S2.

If you look closely at the picture, you might be able to pick out a mini Carawagon, the Abersoch Express of LRO's John Carroll next to the command post, who joined us for the Sunday.

Of course, there was also the mini-camper of JohnH, though he kept Sandra company in his classic folding caravan at night time rather than sleeping in his camper. Also, Phillip was there with his SW and roof tent, so the LRCC was well represented.

We set out the tarp shelter over four of the central vehicles, with the heavyweight military awning on the back of the command post, and that worked well throughout the rest of the show.

The usual Kefta was on offer for the evening meal - that's become a bit of a tradition at our shows now :tiphat:

Sunday was warm, sunny, and relaxed, with plenty of HUBS (Heads Under Bonnets) and general chatting.

I'm not sure how many vehicles turned up over the two days, but I estimate probably a couple of hundred overall  which, for a show of only leaf-sprung Land Rovers, isn't bad at all.

What is becoming more and more apparent at these shows, are the number of folk who own other Series Land Rovers who would really like a Carawagon/Dormobile/Camper. I don't think many folk realise just how useful these vehicles are until the see them at shows.
Perhaps it's as much to do with them tenting in in the rain on Friday/Saturday

More pics to follow :tiphat:

Cheers,
Robin.

PS. Many thanks to the OLLR forum members who host this annual event

A traditional Moroccan dish, but basically lamb meatballs in a tomato sauce (with herbs, spices etc.).

I make the meatballs myself, mixing in the spices and fresh herbs, and prepare the herbs and spices for the sauce at home, then it's easy to cook, over the firepit, while chatting away. It really should be made in a tagine (flat clay dish with clay cone over) but when you're catering for 11 folk or so, a big pot is easier :tiphat:

Traditionally you also break an egg per person onto the top a few minutes before serving, but one of our members is currently on a special diet so we miss those out now.

Hope that helps,
Robin.
