Billing/Kelmarsh Show, 21-23 July 2017
Hi guys,
Live Promotions have confirmed our stand again for this year's Northampton show which used to be at Billing, but is now nearby at Kelmarsh
They have changed the procedure - the stands are bigger, and we are allowed as many vehicles on as we want, but only 10 wristbands.
Additional wristbands can be purchased for £35 each.
I propose that each vehicle gets one wristband (for now!), and we'll see how many vehicles we can get on the stand.
In the past, Billing has not been popular and we have sometimes struggled to get the 5 vehicles we were allowed, so if that is the case this year there may be extra wristbands available.
If we don't fill the stand, however, the free space could be taken from us and allocated to someone else, so let's hope we get plenty of vehicles
I already have the site plan, and unfortunately we are not next to the S2C stand this year, but we do have a corner plot so need to make sure we present two good display faces!
I also need to do a lot more paperwork, including risk assessment, stand layout diagram etc., and all vehicle type, year and reg, as well as the name of each attendee, and that all has to be done before the 26th May otherwise we lose the stand!
This is a 3 day show, and you will need to be on site on FRIDAY MORNING, before 08:30, and stay until Sunday afternoon.
You can arrive after 12:30 on Thursday to set up camp,
Preference will be given to those who can be there for the 3 days.
So, if you are interested in attending this show, please PM me with ALL of the following before 14th May to give me a chance to sort out the paperwork:
* Vehicle type
* Year
* Reg number
* Your name
* Passenger name(s)
* Awning (side, rear, size)
Regards,
Robin.

G'day Robin, this sound's good and will give me something to aim for . Chris welded up my extra support bracketry on support for my tow bar so i am now well happy and now painting away making it look pretty.
I must say it will be nice to just get back on the road again and just cruise, whether there is a caravan behind depend's on health but it will be better without.
She has still got the petrol in her as yet but i have a few types of diesel's ready and waiting just incase my strength return's or i just have a change of mind.
Catch you later, R-Rose in a more happier place than i have been for a while

Good morning Robin,
Reallly sounds good and I would love to come as I have enjoyed the last few I have been to, however due to ongoing work commitments I dont think I will be able to attend. That is not to say closer to the time I may find that I am OK to go

Hi guys,
Well, so far I've only got three confirmed, with one of those only able to do the Sat & Sun.
Any more interest? We need at least 5 to justify the stand.
Cheers,
Robin.

Re: Billing/Kelmarsh Show, 21-23 July 2017
We've just got a revised site plan and we are now next to the S2C stand as usual.
We still need more entries though - a minimum of 5 or we don't get a stand!
I'm curious as to why this show is so unpopular? We usually have plenty of interest in Peterborough LRO, and used to be able to fill the stand at the Spring Adventure show (Driffield/Harrogate/Ripley Castle), so why is this particular event so unpopular?
Is it because it is a 3 day event, or some other reason?
I understand that historically Billing did have some issues with theft etc. due to the open nature of the site which allowed 'public' access at night, though in the 5 years or so we have had a stand there, we have not heard of any problems, and the show is moving to a new, more secure, site this year anyway
I'd be interested if anyone has any theories
Cheers,
Robin.

Hi Robin
I have gone to Billing for years and never had any problems? I did have a break (apart from last year) due to our summer holiday getting in the way. William and I are really looking forward to going to Kelmarsh and will be really disappointed if we do not get enough vehicles to get a stand. Are there any campers on the Series 2 Club stand that could transfer across and make room for a non camper Series 2 on their stand?
Who has said they can make it?
Mick

I think there's only Frank with his camper - I don't know of any others who regularly attend the shows.Jabbawocky wrote:Hi Robin

I'll email Frank to find out if he knows of any other campers.
So far there is me, Mark Rollings, Michiel, and you (for the Sat & Sun), so that makes 4 - nearly there!
Cheers,
Robin.

Looks like the S2C is struggling for attendees as well - only two on their list at the moment according to Frank, their shows officer!!

HI Robin
Maybe we need to redefine what is a classic now the Defender is out of production. Are they now all classics?
