I purchased an incomplete capstan winch for my Dormobile.
It's missing the driveshaft, operating lever and the part that bolts to the crank.
I'm looking to source these parts.

I have two of these with similar bits missing.

I think SamC88 had a plan to make some bits but I may be getting confused in my old age.

It may be work talking to Mick (Jabberwocky on here and s2c) as I think he sourced or fabricated a driveshaft for his Dormobile's winch a few years ago.

Thanks Eagle,
I've found this site before but the prices are out of my reach...

Turns out mine is an Aeroparts rather than Fairey, it has the splined shaft. He does a kit which includes all the parts I need at AUD 1,135 if we add 50% for freight & duty we are up to approx AUD 1,700. I only paid AUD 5,000 for the Dormobile !!

If I could find a drive shaft and the drive flange that fits to the motor and take some accurate measurements I could probably make them myself. I would have to get the spline cutting done by someone else although I have a mill & a rotary table. The operating lever is fairly straightforward.

Someone did mention a Series I clutch operating arm has similar splines to the driveshaft but I've yet to check.

Anyone have an Aeroparts winch and could measure the driveshaft & drive flange ???

Thanks,

Colin

Thanks Eagle but it turned out mine was an Aeroparts rather than Fairey.

Turns out that the clutch operating arm splines are the same (SI &SII) so you can make the driveshaft from a couple of clutch operating shafts welded together.. The driveplate should be fairly straightforward to turn up and the operating arm a doddle to make.

Not sure when I'll get round to it but at least I now have a plan, just have to track down a couple of clutch operating shafts.
