It's spelt 'b....anal' :neener:

Adj. 1. banal - repeated too often; overfamiliar through overuse; "bromidic sermons"; "his remarks were trite and commonplace"; "hackneyed phrases"; "a stock answer"; "repeating threadbare jokes"; "parroting some timeworn axiom"

Re: Ripley Castle Classic Car Show, 4th June - Kefta!

Post by RMS » Fri May 25, 2012 9:02 pm

Hi guys,

Only a week to go before the Ripley Castle show :nana1:

As usual, Steve & I will be doing a communal Kefta at the LRCC camp the night before.

If anyone wants to join in, please let us know very soon so we can bring enough.

Cost, per person, will be two bottles of either pear cider or Crabbies alcoholic ginger beer.

Already on the list are
John (Overlander) + Sandra??
Gordon & Wendy (Lowebox)
Neil (Muckitup - S2C) & dad
Les & Yvonne (Lightweightles)

Anyone else?

Cheers,
Robin.

Very sorry Les - you were on my paper list, just forgot to add you to the high tech list

I'll probably aim for around midday - earlier if I've got everything ready and I'm bored, later if I'm panicking getting the 'wagon ready :stars:

Have you decided which vehicle you'll be trying out?

Cheers,
Robin.

Thank you Steve, just thought we would give the 'new to us carawagon' a first time out trip.

Tis hard to know what to put on wagon and where to store it though, but that is part of the fun I guess.

Best wishes Les :tiphat:

True, Les.

Patrick's SW based Carawagon has even less storage space, hence the big box on the roof rack for Morocco.

We had to pack for almost every eventuality for that trip, and three adults have a lot of baggage!

Steve has a great system of storage boxes which are a perfect fit in the cupboards of the 2 door Carawagon. As soon as I sort out the rest of my Carawagon, I'm going to have to do something similar. What you don't want to do is pack everything under the bench seat as once you pull it out as a bed, it's difficult to get under it :stars:

Check out Steve's system next weekend - don't look at mine though; I'm still at the stage of throwing everything in :thud:

Cheers,
Robin.

Yeah Robin, I remember Steve showing me some boxes at YOG. I have managed to source a couple of similar sized boxes but they may not be ideal. I think once my carawagon is there for peoples to see they can give me some advice of where to put things, as long as it is not the same place she tends to tell me where to put stuff. :aaagh:

At the moment HRH as Steve calls her has a Royal Blue sun hat nominated for the trip, so if that is all she is taking I do not think I will forsee a problem with storage.

We will just use this trip as a lets see how things go trip and if it works out then we can use the carawagon more often than maybe the folding camper or numerous tents we have.

Just have some pity on me and make me a cuppa if I forget the kettle, cos no doubt I would have been told numerous times to pack it and still forgot it.

Do you need fire wood or mint leaves??? I think mint leaves is all I will be growing in the allotment this year after the cold start to the season we have had.

I can only imagine what packing was like in your house before the Morrocan trip for all three adults. Was there much you forgot or took but did not need/use ?????

Best wishes Les

Hi Les,

I ALWAYS forget something, but I think we did ok on the Morocco trip.

That is surprising though; I was still finishing the restoration, wiring up the auxiliary battery, at 2am on the morning we were setting of at 6am :thud:

I don't think we took too much, either. We did take two tables, which probably wasn't necessary, but much easier to prepare food and eat. Oh, and we probably wouldn't have bothered with the toilet tent and porta-potty if it were just us men going

Don't worry - whatever you forget, someone will have a spare or at least let you use their kettle etc. :tiphat:

Cheers,
Robin.

PS. We can always use more wood - if the weather stays good, we might be seeing the sunrise again
