Regassing an old fridge?

Jeremy's post has reminded me that I had to fit a larger capacity regulator on our Sterling Caravan. When I bought it the PO had removed the reg. I stuck the first one I found on and wasn't getting enough gas through. I did know that they came in different flows until I went for advice from our local Calor agent.

Right, thanks for all your suggestions; tried it again yesterday, and it worked

I've had it upside down 4 times, and the last couple of times waiting another 24 hours after righting it before lighting, but nothing seemed to work until yesterday.

I left it lit for a couple of hours while I was doing other things, and when I went back to it, I could hear a faint gurgling, and it was getting cold.
Today I lit it again, and withing 30 minutes, the ice tray was -10C (checked with a Christmas pressy from Patrick - laser guided infra-red thermometer )

So, I'm well pleased; an original Carawagon fridge and cooker, all working perfectly

Well, after working really well on its first outing a few weeks ago, the fridge has been hit and miss.

I've had to invert it a couple more times, but last week, in the hot weather, it just wouldn't start circulating at all!

If it was just for cooling beer I'd probably persevere, but when you've got bacon, sausages, and 1kg of hand made Kefta meatballs on board, it's not worth the risk.
So, I've splashed out and bought another Waeco compressor cool/freeze (we've already got one in Patrick's Carawagon).

I chose the 25l one as the lid opens the right way to mount it in the space where the old fridge was, and it leaves a nice space down the side for bottles etc.





For those of you who don't know about these fridges, they can cool down to -18C as a freezer whatever the outside temperature is, and they sip 12V like good wine
These (and the very similar Engel) fridges are the choice of many who take on long overland expeditions.
