greetings from lancashire
Hello my name is Ivor and I hark from Bury.I run a repair garage in the area and I own several land rovers although I am going to introduce gsl which is the land rover I have had longest 18 years or more it is a 1961 109 5 door safari, Its due for a serious overhaul. Its likely after my research its is a searle. So I have a mind to find out and how it was set out so any information would be welcome. It will take me for ever because I am in the middle of a range rover rebuild,Still I like to plan ahead. I will try to post some pictures in the next few days so ta ta for now Ivor (rovi)

Hi Ivor, and welcome
Be good to see some pics - what have you found that says it was a Searle?
With any luck you might find some unusual fittings or trim as Searle converted SW to a posh vehicle for gentry use and called it the Royale, as well as the Carawagon conversion.
Cheers,
Robin.

Re: greetings from lancashire
Hello Robin, You could be right looking on rowans land rover website he's got info off series 2 site saying that serele took a order of land rover starting with chassis no 26100002a lwb green in September 1961 which is mine also the level of trim inside was way more lavish than any land rover I had seen although it was in a pitiful state when I got it. There was holes in the first skin about 3" wide that I never worked out why they were there wondered if it was for mounting canvas or poles? so there you have the sum of my detective work so far. Any info is greatly appreciated. Thanks Ivor

Hi Ivor
Welcome to the forum. i'm not too far from you, just over the hill, on the rights side between Keighley and Skipton. If you ever come over this way, your welcome to come and look at my Landies. I also have a Searle for restoration, which I hope to start this year.
Looking forward to seeing your pictures.
Cheers Mick
