Canada / Carawagon / Greetings

Post by RobinCraig » Sat Mar 29, 2014 4:15 pm

Evening All,

Robin Craig here, am attempting to save a series 3 Commanders Carawagon from a hack about fate worse than death.

Sadly my pictures are too big for here so the system says

Nice to meet you all

Robin

Hi Robin, and Welcome.

Yes, there is a size limit on pictures.
See HERE for a guide, and the reasons behind the restriction :tiphat:

If you don't want to use Photobucket, and can't resize your pictures, you can always email them to me and I'll sort it out and add them to this thread for you.

Looking forward to pictures and more details.

Cheers,
Robin (yes, another Robin  )

Dear All,

Thank you for the warm welcome.

"other" Robin, I have pm'd you my email addy re pictures

Julf, yes I do, I am going to post it all in the forum section "members motors" as and when I finalise the "deal" this week, if not I will reveal all elsewhere on the forum.

I come to this hobby from a slightly different viewpoint and direction likely than most of you. I am a military vehicle type and am known to be a bit of a purist!

We, my lady and I and the bank, own 2 Daimler Ferret Mk1 Cdn and one Land Rover 101FC and a Wide track trailer and a Ford 340 industrial tractor (non military),our "fleet".

I live and work on an island, Howe Island, in the Thousand Islands just out Kingston, in Eastern Ontario. I have an odd ball job and property manage a large estate and am the farmer for the same people, we do cash crops, soy beans and corn amongst many other responsibilties, although farming seems a long way off, we just had 4 inches of snow last night.

I am a welder by trade and not a mechanic, a model maker by past hobby interest. I am an active member over on the Historic Military Vehicle Forum. At work there is a modest military vehicle collection that I am responsible for and have to operate. The collection is based around the theme "of British manufacture or usage".

I have long been a Land Rover enthusiast but it is only recently that I have once again made the switch from scale to real vehicles as my life has only recently settled down again after building a house with my lady. I have had previous (houses and ladies) in the past but we wont talk about them or lawyers.

As yet we have no garage in which to work, we are building that this spring / summer.

Once again thanks for the welcome

Robin

Hi Robin,

PM replied to :tiphat:

I think you'll find Julf is a kindred spirit - I haven't seen a complete list of his Military vehicles but I do know of several, including a Commander's Carawagon, shown here at one of our events:

and a 'Pinkie' just peeking out in the middle here at another event:

Good luck with your 'deal' this week

Cheers,
Robin.

Indeed - and I am also a bit of an anorak about orginality. Have a couple of military carawagons (actually thinking about getting rid of one of them), a couple of 101's (one Vampire, one Intercept), couple of pinkies and a satcom 110.

Welcome :tiphat:

Love people who really try and make the vehicle as close to original as possible.

Me, I'm known to modify to needs :aaagh:

Looking forward to see the deal done and some pics.
