Re: EASTER CAMPING WEEKEND
Well, a great weekend (if just a little cold!!) was had by us hardy lot
The temperature dipped to -9.5C on Saturday evening, but we managed to stay reasonably warm around three firepits, fed with wood brought with us and foraged from a nearby copse (just helping the landowner clear up his dead wood )
Some Kiwi friends were hoping it would dip to double figures, but it didn't quite get there
We had snow flurries throughout the weekend, but not enough to lay down much of a covering - there was more snow at home when we got back from 2 weeks ago than we saw in North Yorks
Here are just a few pics - I'm sure others will add theirs:
Scenic drive on Saturday:
The Carawagon encampment - there were 5 of us there
Steamin'
On fire
More firewood spotted
We found Andrew's FC abandoned - presumably he was dry stone walling somewhere nearby
As you can see, LRCC was well represented with my Carawagon along with those of Patrick, Steve, Phil (1st outing ), and Trev.
Other S2C and LRCC members were there as well - a total of 14 campers/tents and 20 folk altogether, I think.
Oh, and thanks goes to Gordon & Wendy for organising the camp and Neil for the firewood oh, and Kath for her naked buns and hot potatoes
I'm sure there will be follow-ups regaling us with tales of frozen hot water bottles, Eberspachers failing to fire up, frozen gas and Michelin folk with 20 layers of clothing for sleeping
Cheers,
Robin.

Just a few more pics, supplied by others on the S2C forum:
Steve sampling some 30 year old something!
It was cold, but 3 firepits and various alcoholic samplers kept us warm:

Looks like one of our engines pulling that Pullman service! They're both up at the Moors at the moment anyway.
