Dormobile for sale

Post by AlexB » Tue Jan 22, 2019 12:32 pm

Now then
The time has just about arrived to put the for sale sticker on the Pastel Dormobile, replacement (refurbished) gearbox now in, overdrive refitted, seat box in position. Just bolting up and finsihing off the curtains and it is done.

So, it is off to the Land Rover Centre for them to sell.
I don't have the room - projects are queuing up.

I suspect that LRC will have a price tag of a smidgeon under £20k. FOr that, the new owner will get a new MOT and warranty , whereas I could be tempted to part with it for £15k as it stands.

1963 Land Rover 109 Martin Walter converted Dormobile Reg No YSY331
Modifications include; Discovery 200 tdi engine, series 3 gearbox, 3.54 diffs and brake servo.
This vehicle was re-imported from Jersey and has since benefited from;
New Richards galvanised chassis
Refurbished and galvanised Ashtree bulkhead and front panel
Refurbished and galvanised side frames
New old stock front and second row doors
New autosparks wiring loom
New brake pipes, cylinders drums and shoes
Refurbished front axle
New steering joints
Double battery box under passenger seat
New battery
Refurbished ignition / light switch
New period correct lights
New window runners and door / roof / windscreen seals
All seat frames repainted and reupholstered
New door cards
Repainted inside and out
New Dormobile canvas
New bunk covers (yet to be fitted!)
New roof window seals
New vent and vent seals
Includes gas bottle for cooker unit
Includes table

I drove it down to Dormobile and back (500 miles) where I noticed that it jumped out of third and fourth, hence the replacement refurbished gearbox.

Message me if interested. I will keep updating as to when it will land at Huddersfield Land Rover Centre Hopefully this weekend

Sounds like another successful restoration Alex :gold:

Good price too for a full restoration with many new parts, especially for the non-dealer sale

Cheers,
Robin.

Well done that man.

I know whoever buys that one will have a brilliant classic landy for years to come to go on adventures.

Hope it goes to somebody who uses it rather than parks it up and just looks at it. But each to their own I guess.

Apologies for not responding Stefan.
This retirement lark doesn't allow time for anything anymore !

Well, YSY was driven off into the hills this morning by her new owner. I won't give the game away as to who it is but you will def see the Dormobile at Leafers in a couple of months

I must admit, I am quite proud of the finished effort.

Only two current projects now; my 1959 88 which is reasonably close to finishing (only a few months off perhaps) and the very rare 3 door Dormobile I am doing for Mike Street - the owner of Dormobile UK as a "patina restoration" . That is a long way off !!
