Thanks for the link to the soundproofing, that's useful to know. Did you manage to do the whole bulkhead with one sheet OK?

One day my Dormobile will be as nice as this one... one day...

Hi Alex,

Very intersting project, could you provide some detail on the cut in the wheel arch?

Dimension, position and maybe a picture from the outside ?

Thanks

Thank you Alex for the sound insulation link. Much appreciated.
I too am curious regarding the wing cut out, if your diary permits.
Kindest regards

I've just been flicking through old threads for photos to cheer me up, and I too am now interested by the cutout at the back there! Does it affect axle articulation at all?

Apologies for the lack of response

I will be carrying out the same butchery on the Dormobile Blanche soon, so will let you have details of dimensions etc.

No problem with articulation, perhaps as I have parabolics on the rear?

Dimensions and photos to follow soon

I look forward to it  ! It did occur to me looking at it that you could maybe gain a bit more by extending it right to the back, with just a little box for the filler pipe, but I guess there is some reason why that hasn't been done...

Hi Ant

The cut out is to allow a Porta potti 335 to fit under the wardrobe. Because of the angle of the fuel filler pipe there is nothing to gain by making the box closer to the back of the vehicle. The cut out does just miss the rear wheel, but cannot be extended further forward. The porta potti is a good fit which does stop it bouncing too much when driving the corrugations in the desert or pot holes in Keighley. I have a drawing of the ones I make to go with the wardrobes I make. Remind me to give you a copy when you call. Barney has the same cut out.

My cut outs are 355mm wide x 300mm deep x 160mm high with 25 lip all the way round, folded alloy with welded corners.

OK, thanks very much! Was this a standard fitting then, on later models or something, or is it just a common aftermarket mod?

HI Ant

Don't know how many Dormobiles have been modified like this, but not a factory option. In recent years, when Phil N restored Bea he carried out this modification and then Alex and myself copied what he had done.

Most important modification I have made as all the trips we have done in the Dormobiles just would not have happened. No toilet, no wife, No Holiday.

Hello Mick

What material thickness do you use for the alloy cutout section?
