Ah, I'll bet you had a lot less to worry about than when I've picked Carawagons up on my twin axle using a Carawagon as a tow vehicle

Once I have taken off all the bits I need (interior, steering, seats, dash, seatbox, rear tub, sides, windscreen and roof, sills, middle floor, gearbox etc) and weigh the rest in, it all will seem so much easier!


Might keep the rear axle, but the front one seems very rusty, only worth keeping the diff. So, roll onto a trailer, take off the rear axle, pile on what is left of the doors and off to the local scrappy.

You're a very brave man to take up this project.

You are a brave man indeed. Although looking at it, the question one often asks oneself when considering a project vehicle is "do I fix it and mend it as I go along or do I go for a complete full-on rebuild?". I think the first option is completely off the table here.

A friend of mine over here in the USA has been doing a full-on restoration of his Dormobile for at least 10 years. He has never actually driven it. The work is awesome, the rolling chassis and restored 6-pot a thing of beauty. I just wouldn't have the patience. Been there, done that once upon a time with a 1933 Austin 10Hp saloon, the restoration of which started with a sump bolt balanced on a brick.
