1963 Park Ranger find.

Post by paulgrs2 » Sat Sep 15, 2012 9:44 pm

Here is a few pictures (poor one may I add but will do some better ones), of a 1963 Park Ranger Series 2a that we (Trekoverland) have found.
As information is very limited on the old google search I was wondering if you guys had any information of the car or park ranger in general.

Thanks alot in advance.

Hi Paul,

Looks like a great find

Have you lifted the roof yet, to see what state the hinges and canvas are in?

Cheers,
Robin.

How does the roof work, is it like a Dormobile?

From the pictures I've seen, the roof is split down its length.
The roof sections push up to make the sides and the top, front and back are canvas/PVC

It looks very unusual when erected

A great find - I'm looking forward to seeing it on our stand at future shows :tiphat:

Hi,

No we ain`t had it opened up but the previous owner had had a new canvas made which he never got round to fitting but supplied it with the car.

HI Paul

As I have also said on the S2C, Clive MDS (I'm think) probably told me about this over 10 years ago, but also said it was not for sale, so very well done for acquiring it. I have always loved Campers and have always wanted to see this one. I have been heavily involved with the Series 2 Club for the last 12 years and there seams to be very little knowledge out there on this one. I think you are now the authority on these, but I'm sure the good folk of this forum will be able to offer moral support on your restoration.

Looking forward to seeing it in the flesh.

Cheers Mick

Hi again.

We are at a bit of a loose end in deciding how would be the best way about restoring this car. Do we just replace the rear crossmember or fit a complete galv chassis, do we strip and re-galv the cappings etc, do we strip, repair if nessercery and galv the bulkhead.

Our usual way is new chassis, galv the world, new suspension and brakes, rebuild the engine and transmission.
We would appriciate and comments or ideas on the best way to go with this car, thanks alot
