A couple of picture of my series III Carawagon. It's a standard 2.286 petrol, overdrive ,fwh, twin tanks ( one rear, one under drivers seat)
Bit of work still required to improve things but generally OK

A couple more photos, work to be done includes changing timber sides, have already purchased some stainless steel piano hinge. I admit i've changed the grill for a late IIA, much better.

That looks great Andy.

I'm intrigued by the worktop - do you think they were original; ie. are the backs the same as the cupboard doors, or have they been added later? In fact, those cabinets look so unmolested that I wonder if they've been re-made?

Any chance of joining us at a show some time - we'd love to meet you and have a closer look

Robin,
I believe the interior cupboards and woodwork to be original. They look like they all belong together and there are no signs of being changed, I'm the vehicles' 14th owner i'm afraid it's had a varied life. However I'm hoping to keep it for a good while and use it as much as possible. One of the previous owners traced the history of it and found that it was originally bought by a photographer and it went to Algeria/ Sahara with him. I was told when purchasing it that it was "Austrailian Army Spec."? Not sure about that, I then found a picture that I got some years ago which is a Carawagon promotional group of pictures on a single A4 sheet. This shows, basically a building site office based on a Carawagon, the layout is very similar to the vehicle I own including the very 1970's bech seat material which is still on mine under the pvc cover. The long map-pocket in mine has been rather crudely shortened but looking at the holes it was full length as per Military Carawagon.

A Few more Piccies,
I've fitted an electric hook-up but decide to hide it behind the rear number plate hingeing the top with a small piece of stainless steel piano hinge.

As you've probably seen under 'Events', LRCC will be at Ripley Castle on Sun/Mon, are you able to join us? You've probably heard that the RGS Overland Workshop is not happening this year.

I'd love to attend the show but unfortunately i'm away working on South Georgia at the moment, I wont be back in the UK till the end of the year. I will however keep an eye on the forum and look forward to reading reports and looking at pictures. Hopefully next year I can get my act together and visit a few shows etc.

Oh wow, this Carawagon really ticks all my boxes!!

Excellent 70s colour, good patina, potentially interesting history, slightly oddball yet original-looking interior, I want to see it in the flesh!!

Must get south to attend one of the LRCC-attended rallies.......
