Searle Safari now home

Post by soldiersteve » Wed May 09, 2018 8:50 pm

Brought the new 88" Searle Safari home today. Really pleased with it. I expected it to remind me of my 88" that I had in the 80's but it's far better. The overdrive is fantastic and generally it is just so easy to drive especially when compared with my 101. Now I need to get myself to hospital to get this smile surgically removed from my face!

G'day Bro, I must say what a lovely looking machine along with the awning and my favourite colour, although I am not wanting to rush you but a picture of the engine bay and inside would be nice unless I have missed them.

Catch you later. R-Rose :tiphat: .

Very nice.

How does that awning work, please?

The awning frame and canvas are the same as the LWB Carawagon, just a little shorter.

I've still got your reproduction frame here Matt, and an original awning if you want to borrow it to make a pattern.

I'm not sure if Pete Stevens will be coming to the Wakefield pub meet - if he does, he might be willing to relay them for you

Cheers,
Robin.

Thanks Robin. :wine:

I'll ask on the 'other side' if anyone could help relay the stuff.

I'd be interested in looking at the original canvas to see if I can replicate it.

I would like to try to have a go at creating something before t'Pit but I'm up to my eyballs in bits and bobs for folk at the moment so I suppose it may not happen in time.

Didn’t think there was anything in the length of the awnings and poles, just where the poles go to in the vehicle as such? Need to compare mine against a 109”
Not everything has to be big!

G'day Bro, thank you for the pictures :wine: , she looks a really nice machine and hopefully from what I can see a lot of time and effort has gone in to it.

Correct me if I am wrong due to pictures being able to hide a lot of things, either way I would be happy if it was mine  . Catch you later. Brad or R-Rose if you like :tiphat: .
