Standard Kitchen /Wardrobe Colour
Standard Kitchen /Wardrobe Colour
Ladies & Gentlemen.
Could you advise me of the paint & colour to correctly reflect the original Kitchen & Wardrobe colour of a LR Dormobile please?
Currently the items are a rather russet red & it really is not in keeping.
Kindest regards
Mark

Steel panels were all galvanised.
Sounds like yours need redone ! You could try silver Hammerite ?

Thank you Dormy. There is no rust - just red paint from several PO's ago. Hence Silver Hammerite may well be a rational choice.
In the nicest possible way, is this what you have used?

Could be wrong but I thought that the legend that is Terri Ann said they were sprayed hammerite grey.
Sure my stuff would' nt have rusted like it has if it had been galvanised

Not yet, but mine do need tidying up.Marque wrote:Hence Silver Hammerite may well be a rational choice.

AlexD/Terry Ann may be correct. The PO covered Dormy's units in orange sticky-back plastic and I may have assumed the colour I saw was galvanising when I stripped it all off.
Grey or silver ? - need to get a Hammerite colour chart !

Terri Anne provided the answer.
The wardrobe cabinet, like the kitchen cabinet and spice rack is finished with silver hammerite paint
Thank you for the suggested source Alex. Much appreciated. Look forward to the next trip report...See great images of the Green Dormobile on S2C frequently.

Re: Standard Kitchen /Wardrobe Colour
The units were finished in a "hammered finish" but I'm not sure I'd be using hammerite paint. When I refurbished my original sink unit and wanted to paint all the newly made furniture, I purchased the paint from a car paint shop with thinners etc so it could be sprayed on with a proper spraygun. Fortunately there was no major rust on my sink unit but I did have it sandblasted before painting it.
I primed all the bits and gave it three coats of top coat, I did find that the wetter you apply the paint the more hammered effect you achieve, so you need to experiment until you reach a happy medium I'm really pleased with the results and the finish is hard wearing, nothing has chipped yet and it certainly gets used and abused.
The other useful modification I made was to remake the cooker / sink unit lids in a 3mm aluminium with a rolled front. These can now be stood on without them denting, especially useful when hopping into the bunks.
I also made and fitted a drawer unit to the inside of the cooker unit, it has made all the difference to packing the unit with goodies when camping. It's spring loaded so doesn't move around
