Dormobile table

Post by AlexB » Mon Aug 25, 2014 6:24 pm

Just spent ages fannying around with my new table from Dormobile. As Jerry warned me, it came "wrong handed", but a phone call to Jim had another table top winging it's way here so I could fit the ironwork.
What a faff

It took me a little while to realise that the table is stored "top against the door", then I have had all sorts of problems with the catches fouling the wardrobe and the kitchen

Just one more set of adjustments to go then it will be sorted

I've always stored Dormy's table with the metalwork against the door. Never had any problems with it interfering with either the wardrobe or the cooker !?

The two brackets are obviously secured by the hooks, but the leg could just swing out as there are no clips to secure it if you fit the table " top against the door" ?

Ian. Is this a new one? I even tried to fit the new table to the bracketry still fastened to the white dormobile's back door and it would only fit top to door. I suspect that the "station wagon" door lock doesn't help things, but how would you open the door with a table in place without one?

My new table has a clip to hold the leg in place

Hopefully Mick will be able to offer some more pearls of wisdom.

A photo would be helpful. I will try later to take some of my problem

I went through all the same problems as above Alex :banghead: you'd think they could replicate a table and get it exactly the same so it works

As I made my wardrobe slightly deeper and wider than normal, I now keep the table in there secured to the back. Easily removed even with the fridge in situ :tiphat:

Jerry, the excuse was that the drawings are ambiguous with bad writing which could be interpreted as "left side" or "left drive"

Checking would have solved the problem!!

I am now sorted in that I have my table attached to the rear door, brackets facing towards the door and have also raised the fasteners on the door pillars so that it sill be on the drivers side, behind the driver's seat, which can stay up.

Breakfast will be possible on the move!!

No, the table came with Dormy 47 years ago. See pics below.

There is one small bracket missing from next to the door lock (screw holes are visible) and IIRC this type of lock lever was fitted to all the early SW rear doors. In other words, I don't think it's a 'Dormobile' variation (but I may be wrong !).

Ian

P.S. I do intend to re-cover the table soon.

Many thanks
Same as mine (now) apart from mine is a black version

Clearing out a store this afternoon, I found the rubber stop that came off the green Dormobile, so can perhaps fit that as well sometime
