Morocco still having an effect

Hi All

The only problem with going to Morocco is sand gets everywhere. My indicators started to stop working last week, but only going right. Had a look at the Magna switch today and as soon as I touched it, smoke poured out, the solder melted and all the wires fell off. Looking at it sand has just worn it out until it shorted out.

If you think that was bad, look on ebay and see how much folk want for replacements :aaagh:

Hand signals from now on.

Mick

I remember when we replaced the rear crossmember on John's Carawagon - the block paving got a treat of fine Sahara sand to fill the gaps :gold:

We were still finding sand, or rather fine sand dust from that dust storm we were caught in, in Patrick's cupboards, crockery, water carriers etc. for months afterwards, in fact, there's probably sand in lots of nooks and crannies even now!

Re. the Tex Magna - you can rebuild the insulation with Araldite and replace the contacts with brass rivets and solder if you've got the patience.
If you don't want to do it yourself, keep hold until we meet up and I'll have a go for you.

Cheers,
Robin.

I seem to have two of the indicator switches. Think I paid £30 (each) from someone on S2C a few years ago when mine seemed to be acting up. Let me know if Robin isn't able to fix yours.

Thanks for the offers, chaps. I have robbed the indicator switch off the Lightweight for now, but it does not feel great. I have jobs coming out of my ears, so won't get chance to attempt a repair. Robin, if you could have a go at fixing it, that would be great. Might just pop the switch bit in the post as I have no idea when we might meet up? :stars:

Cheers Mick

:hello:
My 110 has several layers slowly appering from the various layers deposited on this trip. The Dash clocks can hardly be read at night due to deposits of dust, seems pointless to clean it out as it'll only get back in on next trip. On good add on was the snorkle, kept the air filter clean so much so that it's only just been changed almost 3 years on.
