Paddock Expedition Fridge

Post by RMS » Mon Jan 27, 2020 1:55 pm

Hi guys,

I see Paddocks are selling a 32l compressor fridge at the very reasonable price of £238.80 HERE

For those who aren't familiar with compressor fridges, they can cool down to well below freezing (usually -18 to -30 depending on make/model), so can also be used as freezers.
As a fridge, they sip power, and so a standard leisure battery could power one of these for a few days without being charged, though of course, it depends on what else you are using the battery for, and the state of it.

Just for comparison, the cheaper 12V/gas/3Way 'coolers' usually cool to about 20 degrees below ambient temperature, so on a warm day they might not keep the temperature down to the recommended 5C for food storage. Also, this type is very power hungry on 12V, so not suitable to run from a leisure battery unless you are on the move and charging it.

The equivelant Waeco/Engel/Dometic compressor fidges cost hundreds of pounds more, though of course, you might be buying more reliability with a big name brand, but at £238 you could buy two for the same frice as a big name one :gold:
If I didn't have my Waeco, I'd snap one of these up!

Cheers,
Robin.

The 42l one is £10 cheaper at Paddocks HERE :tiphat:

Looks like the same fridge, which isn't surprising, I suppose.

My Weaco is showing error faults, so might be trying one of these if I cannot fix it.
