Any recommendations that don't involve drilling holes in the back to fit the Carawagon types? I've been pointed at these, but wanted to check if anyone knew of (or made) a better option.

One for the back & larger one for the side.

Keep and eye out for Fiamma Caravan store awnings, I was lucky enough to pick one up for a tenner...it has a broken leg but I'm sure |I can sort that.

Otherwise, I could make you a simple sheet from marine grade acrylic canvas and you could secure it to a roof rack for example and pull it tight with the front edge supported on three poles (Middle one taller) and guy ropes.

Marine grade canvas is available in many groovy colours.

Thanks Matt. Given the fittings we'll need making I've been told the bar type ones I listed are easier to fit: otherwise I finish up spending more on some of the brackets than I save.... If I had workshop facilities (plus skills & time) it'd be a no brainer! We want a fixed system rather than more stuff to load in the back: got to fit SWMBOs shoes in!

I plan to attach an awning rail to a long piece of aluminium box section tube clamped to my roof rack.
The caravanstore (Or anything else I make ... like a solar panel bag) will be secured in the rail when I need it.

As the picture. hopefully, shows, the awning Matt is talking about fastens to the side of the roof.
