Piece of Dormobile roof 'canvas' wanted, please.

Post by RMS » Fri Jun 08, 2018 2:08 pm

Hi guys,

My project Dormobile's roof 'canvas' is in pretty good shape, apart from the corner sections on the hinged sides.

Has anyone got any pieces of an old roof canvas going spare?
Wide red/white stripe would be ideal, but to be honest, any colour would do.

I think I'll need a couple of square foot.

Dormobile themselves sell patches, but the largest piece they have at the moment is just about 4" square.

Cheers,
Robin.

I'm told it's not dissimilar to pond liner or some of the lightweight roof coverings that go under the tiles.

I may have some spare robin I need to save some for the same places as yours is worn on mine though. This canvas needs warming up though as it has been stored crumpled up. What are you using to stick it together please Robin? I'll be away until the start of July and then I'll need to collect it from our storage the weekend after if that's ok.

Thanks Simon,

It is tempting as yours is red/white, though the original narrow stripes rather than the wide ones on mine.
However I suspect aging might cause it to become slightly brittle, so possibly not good on the hinge corners where it will get the most movement/stress

Let's see if it can be re-softened and go from there.

I've got THIS STUFF, supposed to be for soft vinyl.

I did consider pond liner or similar, but never seen a red/white striped pond

Cheers,
Robin.
