2018 - Tour de France

Post by Jonny72 » Wed Jul 19, 2017 7:51 pm

I've been following the Tour de France for the last 11 years or so on TV (and in person in Portsmouth in 1994 and Harrogate in 2015) - always in awe of the stunning locations chosen for the daily rides. So next year, I'm planning to take the Carawagon along the 'Le tour' route, camping at some of the best points along the way, taking a gentle ride towards and through the pyrannees and alps, eventually towards Paris for the finish.

Just posting her in case it'd create interest for a coordinated 2018 trip. Obviously, 3 weeks' touring might not be feasible for everyone, but it'd be nice to see folk if only for just a few days. Just mentioning here in case there'd be interest to travel as a group.

All the best,

John

Sounds like a great trip John, and thanks for offering to lead it

I'm not a cycling fan myself, but a chance to explore some of the Pyrenees and Alps at Carawagon speeds sounds like a fabulous trip.

Just for planning, the Tour starts on 7th July 2018 in the region of Pays de la Loire and finishes on 29th July on the Champs-Élysées in Paris.

I've been following it myself for a few years now John and stealth camped up in the dales when it came through Yorkshire. Might be interested in following it in France next year...

cheers
