I forgot, one more tip I can give you regarding the rear seats. When you fold them down to make into a bed, they rest on a rubber doorstop. If you do that for a prolonged time, the risk is that you damage the seat cover at the back where it rests onto the doorstop. I believe Mick (Jabawocky) has 2 wooden boxes made up to support them. I have used the 2 top boxes of the stacked storage system from storage systems. These are made of metal and if you paint them in white they look if they are factory fitted. Mine are loose with a wooden base to raise them to the correct height. I have stored my air compressor in one and the other will house my leisure battery soon I hope.
If you keep them loose, you can use them else where in the tent or Dormobile. They don't move anywhere when driving.

Anyway, just a thought to keep the seat backs from damaging.

Thanks for your kind thoughts Michiel.

Using the Dormobile worked very well but there's always that spark of an idea to make improvements resulting from that use.

Always good to share views and ideas, thanks.

I would be interested for your tent contact please. The caranex style awning is flimsy but I had it from another Land Rover prior to the Dormobile.

Certainly an awning is probably an essential part of making Dormobile life easier. Good luck with your own cunning plan!!

Sorry about the carpet thing!! I was very impressed how you and your family manage space in Dora and all the kit you have engineered.

The box idea for the rear seats sounds good. I remember now you showed me your boxes in Dora but I can't recall if they were rested on the floor or the wheel arches.

This week I've fitted some stainless steel enhancements to the Dormobile cupboards, a drawer under the stoves grill space making easy access storage for pans, plates and cutlery and a back and two shelves in the wardrobe cupboard. I'll post some pictures soon!

Kind regards

Chris

This is the Martin Walter mk 7 awning / tent
I was fortunate enough to have this pointed out to me on here (I think). Very useful it has proved too !

As mine is not an original Dormobile Land Rover I have added a Carawagon style awning to mine so I can use it as a sun canopy or fully enclose it.

I have been looking with great interest at your adaption of the Carawagon solution with a Dormobile roof. Very interesting. Contemplated using your idea, but it would not work in Dora. I would loose too much storage space in the curvature of the roof as I have 3 cupboards in that space. The tubes would either run through them rendereing them virtually useless or I would have to take them out all together.
So I will stick to the Khyam solution.

Yes, Alex, that is a very nice example of the Dormobile tent. Up to the point it showed up on the bay of e, I never knew about it existence. I could have done with that one at the Dunsfold open days as we were not permitted to set up the mordern Khyam tent on the showground.

Here's some pictures of the drawer and shelves. I also lined the cooker space under the grill and the drop down shelf with stainless steel.

I got these made up by a local stainless steel fabricator.

Cheers Chris
