I plan to attach an awning rail to a long piece of aluminium box section tube clamped to my roof rack.
The caravanstore (Or anything else I make ... like a solar panel bag) will be secured in the rail when I need it.

Keep and eye out for Fiamma Caravan store awnings, I was lucky enough to pick one up for a tenner...it has a broken leg but I'm sure |I can sort that. Otherwise, I could make you a simple sheet from marine grade acrylic canvas and you could secure it to a roof rack for example and pull it tight with...
