Re: Dormobile roof won’t open fully. Help please

Hi Michiel Yes that sounds a good idea. I would assume that the more force the strut can exert, the less likely it’s a problem in wind I see on the website the struts range from low to really high forces so one strut I was looking at was capable of lifting 140 kg and some a lot more. The roof being ...

Re: Dormobile roof won’t open fully. Help please

Yes I recall camping there and drinking some beer that was strong enough to knock out a Horse!
Pity it’s closing
Monsal Head campsite is open all year. Great place and pubs and views of course
Cheers

Re: Dormobile roof won’t open fully. Help please

Regards the additional holes I put the roof up, unscrewed the top of the arm 7/16th nut and bolt, moved the arm and raised the inner sliding section up which allowed me to mark the hole approx 15mm centre to centre below the existing hole and very carefully dot punched the tube and drilled a 8.5mm h...

Re: Dormobile roof won’t open fully. Help please

Good question regards gas struts and wind
Is that campsite next to the Three Stags Pub by any chance. I camp regularly up at nearby Monsal Head. Took my Dormobile there this year
Is the campsite you were on open all year? Always looking for sites to camp in winter
Cheers

Re: Dormobile roof won’t open fully. Help please

Hi Michiel Ok that’s clear now Today I have drilled another hole in each arm and it’s a lot better however I’m convinced gas struts are the way to go I had a look at the website and all seems good Have you the detail of your actual struts I.e model, loading, and also the diameter of the fixing eyes o...

Re: Dormobile roof won’t open fully. Help please

Hi again Michiel
Just on the struts, how easy is it to open the roof now with the gas struts in place? I assume it’s easier and less pushing force needed now they are in place.
Also regards the extended length, what is CRT?
Regards
Bob

Re: Dormobile roof won’t open fully. Help please

Hi This info is really useful. Love the idea of the gas struts and many thanks for the pics The idea of drilling additional lower down the tube is simple and effective and I will do this short term I will contact the gas strut people too as that system will eliminate the need for the springs I presu...

Dormobile roof won’t open fully. Help please

Hi all My 2A Dormobile roof is a real pain to open fully. As I push up it takes all my strength to try to get the extending arms to move far enough to allow the spring loaded button to pop out and lock the arms. However only one will lock and I have to stand on the rear seat to get enough push to do...
