Re: 1963 Dormobile
It looks like the wardrobe is missing from the last couple of pictures. Change of plan? Storage is one of the biggest problems in a Dormie. Where to put it all?

Re: 1966 Restoration
Very nice! The canvas is indeed hard to fit correctly. There's a trick to it but I'm darned if I know what it is.
I hope you have lots of great adventures in it!

Re: Getting dormobile canvas to stretch.
Its not really the cold that makes the canvass brittle, just age. Cold temperatures will cause the canvass to shrink and brittle canvass will certainly crack. At some point, I'll have to replace the canvass on my Dormie - it is an absolute pain to do which I found out whilst helping TeriAnn Wakeman ...

Re: Getting dormobile canvas to stretch.
Warming the canvass will make it stretch. The only trouble is that it will shrink as it cools and if you still have the original material, it tends to crack and split as it cools and tightens. I would drill extra holes in the stays so that the material doesn't get tight. Cold weather camping will do...

Re: Split charge system please
If you are installing a 2nd 'house' battery inside the vehicle, it really needs to be an AGM battery for safety's sake. 'Wet' batteries give off vapours when charging that will rot your insides. :aaagh: I would also fit a switch so it won't discharge when the vehicle is not being used - those USB po...

Greetings Toby! When are we going to see you over here again? Overland Expo is May 12-14 in Flagstaff, at a new venue - there were so many people and vehicles at the 2016 event. Time to start making plans.........!

Very nice! I'm liking your workshop too! I can't get my Dormobile into my garage - too tall. Whereabouts in the USA are you located?
