Re: Burnt out
Yesterday an interim cheque arrived for the full declared and agreed insurance value, no deductions, no preliminary offers...............would have liked a bit more communication from either the Insurer or the claims management company prior to this development though. I had been getting prepared fo...

Re: Burnt out
Thinking it was a bit quiet on the Insurance communications front, gave them a call to see what progress had been made as the garage owner had not received any calls from my Insurance. Things did not start out well. they could not match the claim number reference against my name, eventually resolved...

Re: Burnt out
Sorry to hear about that. What happened? Adjacent building occupied by a Joinery/Cabinet maker, fire investigation findings point to it starting in or around a paint/varnish store. Fire discovered around 4.30am, spotted by a passing Police unit, but building was by that time well alight with large s...

Burnt out
Will start a new thread to avoid sidetracking another one, those with fine eye for detail may have noticed that last week one of mine was destroyed in a fire. Today I was able to get a bit closer for some pictures, but this thread is more to keep those interested up to date with the insurance proces...

Re: How many?
There is now one less Dormobile on the road, as of yesterday my 66 Dormobile was destroyed in a fire. It had been in the local garage for a new stainless steel exhaust, when an adjoining Joinery facility caught fire, nothing left of several businesses. You may just be able to pick out the windscreen...

Re: Blue Dormobile advance notice
Alex, With first hand knowledge of the marque, and the work required to maintain, I would say you were about right with your expectations. It only requires a brief search through the various classifieds and trades to see the equivalent VW or coach built is double the price and has half the capabilit...

Re: Dormobile
I see a series IIa not a series III, i.e. door hinges, centre dash, whats going on at the top of the bulkhead?.....some sort of bracketry each side, and the gap between bonnet and wing tops looks excessive. Strong price guide, not quite VW levels yet but climbing, but if this had been mine, I would h...

Seat refurbishment
Got the first seat back today from Powder Coating, quality is excellent and the test piece withstood some serious abuse from hammer and sandpaper. The original frames had been subjected to numerous coats of just what was laying around by previous owners, including a powder blue at some time, but we ...

Re: I have no idea!
Thank you Ian yet again  . The panel is steel is that standard also? And I can't see any straight forward way of removing the driver's seat, without undoing the 15,000 bolts and screws holding the frame in. Am I missing something? Cheers Glen At the front there should be a lever to allow th...

Re: Dormobile roof springs
Surely the point of the springs is to assist elevation which means that the mousetrap effect is totally wrong. My thoughts as well Alex, but kit comes with no instructions to aid installation, could not see anyway to pretension the spring prior to bolting up the pole, tension is introduced as roof ...
