Re: Mummy Pig

When you upgraded to the 200TDI, did you change anything in the transmision or did you stay with the original gearbox/transfer case/rear axle?

Re: Route 66 and all that pt.3

If you have been following my missive so far, you might have been lulled into thinking that electro-mechanical issues had all been resolved. Not quite. The petrol gauge now has a mind of its own. This was compounded by the fact that I had fitted a new gas tank recently and with that, a new fuel gaug...

Re: Route 66 and all that Pt 2

I left the campsite in Needles around 7am, hoping to make progress before the heat of the day kicked in. Needles is just on the border between California and Arizona and the bridge across the Colorado river marks the spot. Arizona has some of the best-marked and preserved sections of Route 66 so I w...

Route 66 and all that

It all started with an email asking if I was interested in the Overland Expo which would take place in Flagstaff over the weekend of May 17-19. That's about 650 miles from where I live but on the plus side, I would get to meet up with some friends who also own Dormobiles - TeriAnn Wakeman and James ...

Re: Dormobile bunks - max load?

I sleep in one of my bunks and weigh 13st. I don't feel that the bunk is overstressed  but I do have a new cover on them. Much more comfortable than the downstairs beds!

Re: Rear Seat Belts............

Hi Jerry, Sorry about the delay in replying. I just got back from a 10 day, 1500 mile road trip in my Dormbile to Flagstaff Arizona along Route 66 to the Overland Expo. More about that elsewhere once I've downloaded all my pictures. I did indeed replace the plastic trim with wood - it looks so much ...

Re: Rear Seat Belts............

Hi Jerry, I added an extra cupboard in front of the spice rack. It was a pain to build due to the curvature of the roof. :banghead: If you are making one, make the vertical pieces first and then add the horizontals. The spice rack has sliding perspex doors that are held closed by a knob that screws ...

Re: Rear Seat Belts............

Hi Jerry,

It will probably work okay, although your front curtain may overlap the doorway. Obviously, my rear seats (of which there is now only one) does not have a seat belt.

How do folks have there front seat belts anchored? Pictures would be appreciated.

Cheers,

Re: Dormobile Roof Refurbish...........

Hi Jerry, $220 seems expensive for new glass - the 2 pieces I bought cost me $125. The Oz $ is about equal to the US $. But 2mm thicker is too much I think. The curse of the metric world down under. I'm curious about your piece of glass that is curved as I thought both were flat. Mine certainly were...

Re: Dormobile Roof Refurbish...........

Hi Jerry, Putting the glass in yourself? Brave man! I've done it, but it wasn't easy at all. :shakehead: You will need string, soapy water and the special tool to lay in the locking strip. There's a good description on how to do it here: http://thattoheathmountainrescue.piczo.com/dormobileroof?cr=7&...
