Re: Wanted: Carawagon annex tie downs

Hmm
I’m assuming they are original
It has the pull out frame and the sail rack that goes all around the outside

Carawagon roof supports

The internal supports for when the roof is down is a different setup than a mates.
They line up to the Perspex alpine windows which doesn’t make any kind of sense.
They look to be original by the looks of the trims but I can’t see how this can work correctly.

Wanted: Carawagon annex tie downs

I’m looking for 2x tie downs as used on the Carawagon’s.
The new ones I’ve seen in hardware shops aren’t galvanised and the hole spacing is different.
Does anyone have any they don’t have a use for? Or know of where to get them?

Re: 2x Carawagon roof rebuids

Unfortunately not much progress on the roofs. My mates one had a few cracks in the aluminium which have been welded up and now needs to paint the roof which wasn’t part of the plan. We have the marine ply, stainless steel hinges and screws but still need to get the rubber seals. In the mean time I’v...

Re: What tires where original fitted to a 109 carawagon?

One of the tyres on my 1969 Carawagon is an Avon Traction Mileage in 750R16 size.
As this vehicle had made it's way to Australia by 1971 (and I doubt these tyres were made available in Australia) I think it's one of it's originals.

Yes I imagine that would be the reason and also to allow water to drain away from the hinge.

Re: 2x Carawagon roof rebuids

I haven't found I've needed to on any of the ones I've done. I think whatever sealant Searle used seems to have stood the test of time. Hope that helps, Robin. Fantastic - that saves me a heap of time! I've notice the bottom edge of the ply sides have a bevel along its edge. Did the top edge have t...

Re: 2x Carawagon roof rebuids

Now for my first question:
When restoring these do you normally take off the aluminium angle that goes around the perimeter of the room opening to re-seal it?

2x Carawagon roof rebuids

Giday all. I have just bought a 1969 Carawagon and a friend of mine also has a 1967 Carawagon. These are pretty rare in Australia and we are keen to get these up and running and start doing some trips in the Victorian High Country as well as a few outback trips. While I'm waiting for mine to get tra...
