Re: Searle Safari Split Charge

Hi Robin Well its in and as far as I can tell it works. So far all I have done is fit the relay and wire in the W side as I don't yet have everything I need for the C side but I have loosely wired a feed to C1 and put a volt meter on C2 and all seems to be well. When the ignition is off there is no ...

Re: Searle Safari Split Charge

Hi Robin, Err, yes, right, OK. THB I'm still trying to get my head round it and failing miserably but am happy to do as you say. It's going to be next weekend before I get an opportunity to do it now but will repost then to let you know how I'm getting on. Thanks for your help an patience with me. S...

Re: Searle Safari Split Charge

Hi Robin I'm not really sure I get this as it seems to me this system would discharge the main battery if accessories were used when the engine is not running. If I understand things right the alternator charge light is only illuminated when the ignition is on but the alternator is not providing a c...

Hi Robin

My relay has two large terminals and two small terminals. The large ones are marked C1 and C2, the small ones are marked W1 and W2. I guess the W1/W2 is the switch and the C1/C2 is for the connection between the positive terminals on the batteries.

Searle Safari Split Charge

Hi All My Searle Safari has the capacity for two batteries, one in the engine bay and the second under the passenger seat. The space under the seat is currently unoccupied. Also in the box of bits that came with it is a Lucas 7RA 33335A split charge relay. I have also read that Searle offered an ext...

Searle Safari or Mini Carawagon in the South.

Hello all Now I have my Searle Safari home I want to start thinking about restoring the sleeping arrangements. First thing I would like to do is take a look at one that is complete. I live on the Isle of Wight so Dorset, Hampshire or West Sussex would be best but all offers of help would be grateful...

Catch you later. R-Rose :tiphat: .

Searle Safari now home

Brought the new 88" Searle Safari home today. Really pleased with it. I expected it to remind me of my 88" that I had in the 80's but it's far better. The overdrive is fantastic and generally it is just so easy to drive especially when compared with my 101. Now I need to get myself to hosp...

Re: Searle Safari

I bought it! I paid more than Stuey suggested but managed to get it closer to his estimate than the asking price and well into 4 figures rather than 5. Having spent some time going through all the paperwork it seems it was restored on a new galvanised chassis around 1999-2000 by an enthusiast in the...

Re: Searle Safari

Hi It’s been up for sale a while now, started at 15k a few years ago, went up to 20k with the current seller then jumped up a bit more then has come down a considerable amount. IMHO with good series 2’s being around the 5k mark then I would expect this to be a little more than that, 7-8k at the mos...
