Re: TWO (at least)in Sheffield.

Cheers for that Robin.

The rubbers are very shiny. I'll do all three, rough them up, clean with meths and fit straight away....and then re-do the first one if it's a better result.

Cheers

Re: TWO (at least)in Sheffield. Carawagon Re-furb

Hmmm. Bit disappointed this evening. Late on Thursday night I used the Sikoflex to stick the two seals to the long sides. I spent some time making sure I did a neat job and even cleaned off the excess before weighting them down a little and leaving them alone. DSC04559.JPG I came to them both today ...

ReTWO (at least)in Sheffield. Carawagon Re-furb

Good and bad news today. Unfortunately, I've been evicted from the borrowed barn...he wants to get on with a project of his own but that inspired me to get up and tidy 20 years of clutter from the first end of my own garage. Once I'd thrown and stacked it all at the bottom end I went and fetched the...

Re: TWO (at least)in Sheffield.

Been testing our relationship over the last few days. Been married 6 months now and wondered what would happen if part of the restoration came into the house. It has been very cold and everyone understands that stain and varnish need at least 10 degree temperatures if it's going to cure correctly. D...

Re: TWO (at least)in Sheffield.

Oh Boy. Do I feel rough. I've somehow managed to have the flu twice in 3 weeks!....with a decent week in-between? Fortunately I managed 3 hours on Sat morning to get just a little more done. I decided to do the cut-outs for the rack supports but went with a compromise to leave an extra 5mm all round...

Re: TWO (at least)in Sheffield. Carawagon Re-Furb

Had a play-day today. Didn't actually achieve loads as all I did was cut the grooves in the end rest pieces.....but it was making the tool that took all the time. Hopefully, my method will be sufficiently slightly different to Robin's and I won't be facing a moment in court.....I reckon it's suffici...

Re: TWO (at least)in Sheffield.

Wow! Live reply....this has got exciting Robin. I should have got a computer years ago! I've bought the 'tadpole' seal for the rest pieces.....looks like a 3mm groove required. As for the hinges, it just seems a shame to refurb good new wood and leave in shabby hinges...so cheers for the prospect of...

Re: TWO (at least)in Sheffield - Carawagon Re-furb.

Got a little further...but really only a little...too cold to be working on it really. I've stripped the rivets out of the long hinges and in an ideal world I think I'd like to buy new ones. Does anyone know of a supplier? I'm fairly confident that these will be able to be used if cost or availabili...

Re: TWO (at least)in Sheffield.

Well. Predictable I suppose, but I didn't do anything over Christmas and New Year. Too busy doing what we all do at this time. Had a good go today though. I think I've found a great way to stop a roof leaking!......add an additional one! DSC04354.JPG Got the roof to a friends barn with more space th...

TWO (at least)in Sheffield.

Hi there. Some of you may have seen me at Leafers at end of august. You may have seen pictures Robin put on when this one was purchased from ebay early in 2015. Well. I've emptied and then remade the bed/sofa area....here's before and after:- today 114.JPG As you can see. I've added 70's 'Nathan' si...
