109" Carawagon in USA

I have been working away on my 67 109" diesel carawagon. Rebuilt the following: 2.25 diesel engine, and injector pump, fitted a Gm alternator, full top rebuild "thanks Robin", seats, rear end, brakes, and interior because the cabinets were removed at some point. I am posting some pics...

Re: White smoke?

Thank you for the feed back. It is safe to say the valve timing has not been set in some time. I found the truck and it had been sitting for about 18 years. I think I will replace the chain and sprockets with it is opened up again and set the timing just to be safe. It has a Casptan winch so it look...

White smoke?

Hello all I have a bit of white smoke after installing a fresh cylinder head on a 67 series 2a 109 2.25l diesel. What are some of the common factors for this? As a note the inject pump timing works best at the end of the slots so i expect I may have a stretched timing chain. It looked good but I don...

Re: Roof catches, 40 years on and they are still available

Hi Christine
I got my hands on a 1967 series 2a 109" with the 2.25L diesel. I did not know it was a Carawagon until I picked it up. What a bonus.
The kids are looking forward to sleeping in it as after I get it back together.

Sincerely Richard

Re: Roof catches, 40 years on and they are still available

I would like to get the part numbers if possible. I am starting to restore my top and I have a few parts missing. I noticed the L bracket clamp on your photos was that stock or did you make it? I would assume it help keeps the wind out on the road. Any details on your restoration would be greatly ap...

Re: Hello from California

Thanks for the tips Robin.
Yes the rivets are the close ended type so they may have the steel pull head in them.
My timber is rotted and split. What size is it stock? looks like two different thicknesses.

Re: Hello from California

Thanks for the compliment on the seat. My daughter could not believe I knew how to sew. She laughed as I pulled out and dusted off my 30yr old all metal sewing machine.

Hello from California

Hello all! This is Richard from California. I have got my hands on what I found out is a 1967 109" Carawagon. It had been sitting for some time but the California climate is kind to old cars. It has a 2.25L diesel and it is not that common in the states so has been a bit of a hunt for some of t...
