It seems the filler was not through and through, i.e. itwas used to hide dents, which is nearly as bad as these areas are weakened, hense the breaking at some point. But it us looking better already. What would you guys recommend? Try to clean it up and weld it and plate it over or go for the replacement route. Already have a new dumbiron just in case. But replacing it would mean that I need to take the power steering box and plate off which I would like to prevent.

Are you planning to permanent fix it or use it when you are camped only? If you mount it on a board like Robin suggests, I would advise to use an aly plate or metal or make a frame. These flexible panels tend to overheat if not ventilated or cooled by a heatsink at the back in hot weather. Granted, ...
