Re: Hello from Colorado USA

Where about in Colorado are you? I spend quite a bit of time there during the summer months working on the Cumbres and Toltec Scenic Railroad. Most often with my Dormobile.

Re: Colorado again

Thanks Jeremy. I will be very careful to check for tension with the roof both open and closed. I'm still debating whether to take the roof off or not. Either way, it isn't going to be a lot of fun!

Sounds like you have a great trip in your future!

Re: Colorado again

Hi Jeremy, Any hints or tips you can pass on as to installing a new canvas? I did help TeriAnn Wakeman fit a new canvas to her Dormobile and I do have some notes from Dormobile who recommend taking the roof off. I have measured the existing canvas to give myself an idea of what goes where. Its not a...

Here's a couple more pictures of the interior of the Pullman sleeper: DSC02508-2.JPG The interior is oak - we had no plans and no interior, this has all been recreated from a period photo. DSC02507-2.JPG One of the bunks in sleeping position. The seats below convert into a bed too. People were small...

Transfer case cooling

In a bid to help with transfer case cooling (and thus also gearbox cooling), I've fitted an aftermarket cover that increases the cooling capacity by about a litre. DSC02322A.jpg New cover with original for comparison I'm glad I did as the temperature crossing the Mojave Desert was 49 degs C! I could...

Colorado again

Just got back from a 7 week trip to Colorado. It was the usual 3 days out and back, a 2,000 mile round trip, socially distanced of course. Much of it was crossing Indian territory which has been badly affected by the virus - poor diet, obesity, access to healthcare and running water. Many villages w...

Re: What are you planning for 2019?

I started this thread so its high time I wrote a few lines of prose to update you all. After fitting a new gearbox and clutch, I drove the Dormobile via Monument Valley to southern Colorado in mid-May for a couple of weeks, then left it there for a couple of weeks before returning to it in mid June....

What are you planning for 2019?

It has been quiet on the list, too quiet. So, where is everybody planning to go in 2019? Hopefully somewhere exciting. To start you off, I'm planning on yet another trip to Colorado and New Mexico via the Grand Canyon, hopefully with a new gearbox installed. It did get me back from New Mexico last O...
