Re: Oldest Carawagons

My Searle Safari is 1965 if that is of any help Mick?

I am sure I have some adverts that predate that too, when I get a mo I shall have a look

Re: 66 88 Searle Safari LHD

It is indeed a Searle Safari and going on the British registration plate looks like the second oldest that I am aware of. Due to the anti luce locks on the back I wonder if it was fitted with a tailgate and catflap? Lots of the missing / damaged parts are normal Land Rover items so should be no prob...

Re: Searle safari TPC 709F

I’m confused with this :stars:
It has badges on the wing which would suggest it was a sleeper, however there’s no cutaway bulkhead behind the seats for it to be a sleeper? Have we stumbled upon something else here?

Re: LR Spring Adventure Show, Driffield, 26-26 May

Hi Robin Would love to come however it takes so much out of me and it’s hard prioritising. The cash is not a problem for me and IMHO is just a small prcie to pay, I did wonder when they would catch up and start charging as most shows do. Good luck, I may mooch up for the day and of I do, make sure t...

Re: Searle Safari information needed please

Hiya, Sorry been busy lately trying to secure accounts with my business and other business related boring stuff. Due to there being no records existing (as far as I know) I’ve tried piecing together over the years a little bit of a run down of the SWB Campers, in there basic form: Searle Safari [MK1...

Re: Doncaster July 1st 2018

Oh dear, I was hoping to come to this and was just about to enquire whether anybody was staying over on the Saturday night. I just assumed that it was a case of turning up like I did a few years ago however it appears I should have done my homework and checked beforehand. I was hoping to use this as...

Re: Searle Safari now home

Good to see you got it home ok Steve - looks like a great buy  Very nice. How does that awning work, please? The awning frame and canvas are the same as the LWB Carawagon, just a little shorter. I've still got your reproduction frame here Matt, and an original awning if you want to borrow i...

Re: Searle Safari

Good stuff :nana1: Looking forward to seeing it, personally I would be changing a few things to make it more 'period' looking like remove the chequer plate and change the rear panels as those windows just look out of place, but that's just me. Nice buy, look after it and sure it will be a good inves...

Re: Searle Safari

Hi Steve, Good luck with the viewing, hope it goes well :gold: Sorry I’m not aware of anyone who makes the benchs for the back, best bet would be to get some measurements and go from there. For the correct period fixings to make it look right look at a carawagon of a similar age as they changed over...
